A new indie horror game has arrived on itch.io, and players can currently claim it for free before the offer disappears. Not a Customer, a first-person survival-horror PC game from Opv Game Studio, is available to download and keep at no cost until June 15.
The game launched in early June with an initial price of $3, but its temporary promotion gives horror fans a chance to add it to their library for free with an itch.io account.
A Horror Twist on Identification Gameplay
Not a Customer takes clear inspiration from the document-checking and identification-focused design made popular by Papers, Please. Instead of working as an immigration officer, players step into the role of a night-shift cashier.
That change in setting gives the concept a darker and more immediate horror angle. Rather than simply checking documents, players must deal with unsettling customers, doppelgangers, and creatures pretending to be ordinary people.
The goal is not only to spot suspicious behavior, but also to survive the shift.
Retail Horror With a Shotgun
While the game keeps the tension of carefully observing people and making the right decision, it also adds a more direct survival-horror layer. Players have access to a shotgun for self-defense, suggesting that mistakes can quickly turn dangerous.
This makes Not a Customer feel more aggressive than its inspiration. The pressure is no longer only about paperwork or procedure. It is about deciding who is human, who is not, and when it is already too late.
Low-Poly Style Adds to the Atmosphere
The game uses a low-poly visual style that gives it a PlayStation-era horror feeling. This retro approach works well for unsettling indie horror, where simple character models, rough environments, and limited detail can make encounters feel even more uncomfortable.
Combined with the night-shift cashier setting, the visual style helps create a strange and isolated atmosphere.
Free Until June 15
Not a Customer is currently free to claim and keep on itch.io until June 15 at 02:30 AM. After that, the game is expected to return to its regular paid price.
A Steam release is also planned for the future, giving the game a chance to reach a wider audience later on.
For now, players interested in short, strange, and tense indie horror experiences may want to grab it while the free promotion is still active.
