Cyberpunk 2077 players on PC will soon need Windows 11 if they want to stay within the game’s official system requirements. CD Projekt Red is updating the minimum requirements again, this time because support for Windows 10 has come to an end.
The change means Cyberpunk 2077 will no longer be officially tested or supported on Windows 10 going forward. While the game may still run on older systems for some players, CD Projekt Red will no longer treat Windows 10 as part of the supported setup.
Another System Requirement Change For Cyberpunk 2077
This is not the first time Cyberpunk 2077 has seen its PC requirements raised. The game previously dropped Windows 7 support in 2022, while a larger update in 2023 changed several hardware requirements, including CPU, RAM, VRAM, and storage expectations.
That earlier update was tied to the game’s major technical improvements, especially around Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. The new change is different, as it mainly focuses on the operating system.
Why Windows 10 Is Being Dropped
The reason behind the change is the end of official Windows 10 support. Without ongoing security updates, platform support, and long-term GPU driver support, CD Projekt Red will no longer test Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10.
For players, this means Windows 11 is becoming the new baseline for official PC support. Anyone staying on Windows 10 may still be able to launch the game, but future issues may not be fixed with that operating system in mind.
What This Means For Players
Players who already use Windows 11 should not notice much of a difference. The bigger impact will be on users with older PCs that cannot upgrade to Windows 11 due to hardware limitations.
Those players still have a few options. They can continue playing their current version of Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 10, avoid future updates where possible, or look into upgrading their system. However, staying on Windows 10 will slowly become more risky as more developers move away from supporting it.
Cyberpunk 2077 Continues To Move Forward
Cyberpunk 2077 has changed a lot since its original launch. What started as one of the most controversial releases in modern gaming has become one of CD Projekt Red’s strongest comeback stories, thanks to major updates, performance improvements, and the Phantom Liberty expansion.
This new system requirement update shows that CD Projekt Red is still preparing the game for modern PC standards. For some players, that will be a welcome move. For others, especially those stuck on older hardware, it may feel like another sign that their setup is being left behind.
