Fans waiting for major updates on Bethesda’s next generation of RPGs may need to prepare for a much longer wait than originally expected. According to recent comments made by Jez Corden during the Xbox Two Podcast on May 22, several highly anticipated Bethesda projects — including Fallout remasters and The Elder Scrolls 6 — are still years away from release.
The insider claimed that the rumored Fallout remasters are “a little bit further off” than many players currently believe and suggested that none of the projects are expected before 2027. While the comments are not official confirmations, they do align with the current state of AAA game development, where massive RPGs often require five to eight years of production time.
Fallout 3 Remaster Reportedly Targeting 2027
The first remaster expected to arrive appears to be Fallout 3. Rumors surrounding the project have existed for years, especially after leaked internal documents hinted at Bethesda planning a modern re-release of the classic RPG.
If the current timeline proves accurate, Fallout 3 Remaster could launch sometime in 2027. Reports over the past year have also suggested that the project may be handled by an external studio rather than Bethesda Game Studios itself, allowing the main development teams to stay focused on larger flagship projects.
Many fans believe the success of Oblivion Remastered strengthened the possibility of additional remastered Bethesda titles receiving similar treatment in the future.
The Elder Scrolls 6 Still Appears Extremely Far Away
The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally revealed back in 2018 with a short teaser trailer, but the game has remained largely absent ever since. By June 11, 2026, that reveal trailer will officially be eight years old.
The lack of updates has frustrated parts of the community, especially after Bethesda confirmed that full production on the game only began after Starfield’s release cycle slowed down in late 2023.
Todd Howard previously attempted to lower expectations earlier this year by telling fans to “pretend the game had not been announced,” a statement that now appears more understandable if the current estimates are accurate.
Based on the timeline discussed during the podcast, The Elder Scrolls 6 may not release until 2028 or even 2029.
Fallout: New Vegas Remaster Could Arrive Last
One of the most requested projects from longtime RPG fans remains a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas. However, according to the current speculation, that project may arrive even later than The Elder Scrolls 6.
If Bethesda follows the estimated sequence discussed by Corden, Fallout: New Vegas Remaster may not appear until 2029 or even 2030. Interestingly, a 2030 release would line up with the game’s 20th anniversary, though Bethesda has previously shown flexibility with anniversary launches.
While none of these timelines are officially confirmed, the estimates reflect the growing reality of modern RPG development. Massive open-world games now take significantly longer to build than they did during the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era, especially as visual fidelity, world size, voice acting, and technical expectations continue to increase.
For now, Bethesda fans may have to settle for patience while the studio continues working on its next generation of RPG experiences.
