Nintendo is preparing a major update for the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup with a brand-new bundle arriving in June, followed by a significant hardware price increase later this year. The move comes as Nintendo continues pushing first-party exclusives while also reacting to growing economic pressure affecting the gaming industry worldwide.
The upcoming bundle may become one of the final opportunities for players to purchase the console below the new pricing structure before the September increase takes effect.
New Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle Arrives in June
Nintendo confirmed that a new Nintendo Switch 2 bundle will launch in June for $499. Buyers will be able to select one digital game download from three major first-party exclusives:
- Mario Kart World
- Donkey Kong Bananza
- Pokemon Pokopia
The bundle replaces the earlier Mario Kart-focused launch package that was gradually phased out during 2025. Nintendo has continued experimenting with bundled software since launch, including previous packages connected to Pokémon titles.
While full details about packaging and regional availability are still expected later this month, the announcement already has players discussing which game provides the best value.
September Price Increase Will Push the Console to $499
Nintendo also confirmed that the standard Nintendo Switch 2 console price will officially rise to $499 starting September 1.
The company cited worsening global market conditions as the primary reason behind the increase. Several contributing factors were mentioned, including:
- Ongoing RAM shortages affecting hardware manufacturing
- Import tariffs impacting electronics pricing
- Rising production and distribution costs
- Economic instability tied to the war in Iran
The decision mirrors similar pricing strategies recently introduced across the gaming industry, where both console manufacturers and accessory makers have begun raising prices to offset increasing costs.
Nintendo had already increased prices on multiple products following earlier tariff changes in the United States, making this latest move less surprising for long-time observers.
Bundle Value Depends on the Game Choice
The value of the June bundle changes depending on which exclusive players select.
Mario Kart World normally retails for $79.99, offering the largest savings inside the package. Meanwhile, both Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokemon Pokopia retail closer to $69.99.
Even with the smaller discount on some titles, the bundle is still expected to perform strongly due to the exclusivity of the games involved. None of the three titles are available on the original Nintendo Switch hardware.
Pokémon Pokopia in particular has become one of Nintendo’s biggest modern successes. Since its February launch, the game has reportedly sold over 4 million copies and quickly entered the top-selling titles available on the system.
Nintendo Continues Focusing on Exclusive Software
Nintendo’s broader strategy remains centered around strengthening the value of its ecosystem through exclusive software rather than aggressive hardware discounts.
The company reportedly still plans to launch at least three additional first-party exclusives before the end of July, continuing its heavy release schedule for the Switch 2 platform.
For many players, the June bundle may represent the best entry point before the September price increase takes effect. With hardware costs rising and demand for exclusives remaining high, Nintendo appears focused on maximizing long-term platform value rather than competing on affordability.
