Fortnite players have temporarily lost access to one of the game’s strangest recent additions after Epic Games disabled both Supply Llama riding and shoulder riding due to a newly discovered exploit capable of changing player size.
The issue quickly spread across social media after clips began appearing online showing players shrinking into tiny versions of their characters or transforming into oversized giants during active matches. The exploit rapidly became one of the most talked-about bugs in the current season, with players testing the glitch in public lobbies and creative matches.
Epic Games later confirmed through its official support channels that the affected mechanics had been disabled while the development team investigates the issue. At the time of writing, there is currently no estimated return date for the features.
The Exploit Allowed Massive Character Size Changes
According to players experimenting with the mechanic, the exploit appeared to be directly connected to Fortnite’s llama-riding system. While the exact trigger behind the bug has not been officially explained, users quickly discovered ways to manipulate their character model size far beyond normal gameplay limits.
Some players became incredibly small, making them harder to notice during combat situations, while others grew into giant-sized characters towering over buildings and structures across the map. Videos of the bug rapidly gained traction because of how absurd matches looked once multiple players started abusing the exploit simultaneously.
Although many players found the glitch humorous, it also created obvious gameplay concerns. Smaller player models potentially offered unfair visibility advantages, leading Epic Games to disable the mechanic before the exploit spread even further throughout the player base.
Llama Riding Started As An April Fool’s Feature
The llama-riding mechanic itself was originally introduced roughly a month ago during Fortnite’s annual April Fool’s event update. The event added several intentionally ridiculous gameplay mechanics, including oversized heads, finger guns, and other comedic additions designed purely for entertainment purposes.
While many of the temporary April Fool’s mechanics were later removed from the game, llama riding unexpectedly became popular among players. Due to the positive reception, Epic Games decided to keep the feature active even after the event officially ended.
That popularity makes the sudden removal much more noticeable for players who had already integrated the mechanic into their regular gameplay sessions.
Fortnite Continues Expanding Chapter 7 Season 2
The temporary shutdown arrives during a major content period for Fortnite. Chapter 7 Season 2 has already introduced large-scale map changes, new themed locations, and multiple crossover collaborations that continue expanding the game’s live-service experience.
Recent additions include a Game of Thrones-inspired area and ongoing seasonal updates that continue reshaping the island. Epic Games has also continued heavily investing in collaborations, with an official Ben 10 crossover already generating attention across the community.
At the same time, leaks continue circulating online suggesting a possible future crossover involving several Overwatch characters, including Mercy, D.Va, Tracer, and Genji.
No Return Date Has Been Announced
For now, Epic Games has only confirmed that the issue is actively being investigated. Players currently cannot use llama riding or shoulder riding until the exploit has been fully resolved.
Given how rapidly the bug spread throughout the community, the developer will likely want to ensure the exploit has been completely fixed before reactivating the mechanic. Until then, players will have to continue exploring Fortnite’s newest season updates without one of the game’s most bizarre recent additions.
