A new wave of insider reports suggests that Ubisoft may already be working on a second Assassin’s Creed remake, potentially targeting the franchise’s original 2007 release.
The claim follows the recent announcement of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, revealed on April 23. Shortly after, insider Tom Henderson reported that another remake is in development, with a focus on one of the earliest entries in the series. This information was later backed up by leaker j0nathan, who referenced earlier tips dating back to 2023.
Why the Original Game Makes Sense
While no official confirmation has been given, the original Assassin’s Creed is widely seen as the most logical candidate for a full remake.
Compared to later entries, the first game shows its age more clearly. Players often point to repetitive mission design, basic combat mechanics, and less refined controls. A remake would allow Ubisoft to overhaul these systems entirely, bringing the experience closer to modern standards.
In contrast, Black Flag Resynced already builds on a stronger foundation, thanks to its naval gameplay, open-world exploration, and cinematic storytelling. This makes a full redesign of the original game far more impactful from a gameplay perspective.
A Strategic Move for Modern Platforms
Another key factor is platform availability. The original Assassin’s Creed has never received a dedicated release for newer consoles like PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. A remake would not only modernize the gameplay but also ensure that one of the franchise’s most important stories remains accessible to new audiences.
For Ubisoft, this could serve as both a preservation effort and a way to reintroduce the origins of the Assassin-Templar conflict to a new generation of players.
Release Timing Remains Unclear
If the reports are accurate, this second remake would likely arrive after Black Flag Resynced, which is currently scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026.
However, it’s important to note that all current information comes from insider reports and leaks. Until Ubisoft provides official confirmation, plans could still change or be delayed.
