Pokémon GO Brings Back Weekly Spotlight Hours With Bonuses Starting June 18

Pokémon GO players will once again be able to enjoy weekly Spotlight Hours, as the popular event series returns with its familiar bonus rewards beginning June 18. The move marks another adjustment to one of the game’s longest-running community activities, bringing back a more predictable schedule after several changes earlier this year.

Originally introduced as a weekly feature, Spotlight Hours have become a staple for trainers looking to collect specific Pokémon while taking advantage of valuable bonuses. However, the event underwent several changes in recent months, leaving some players uncertain about its future.

Weekly Spotlight Hours Return

Earlier this year, Spotlight Hours were temporarily paused in March before returning in April in a different format. Rather than weekly sessions, the event shifted to daily appearances and no longer included the bonus rewards that many trainers had come to expect.

Now, Pokémon GO is restoring the traditional formula, although with one notable change. Instead of taking place on Tuesdays, Spotlight Hours will now be held every Thursday starting on June 18.

The return of bonus rewards is likely to be welcomed by players who use the events to gain experience, collect Stardust, or stockpile Candy.

June and July Spotlight Hour Schedule

Niantic has confirmed the following Pokémon and bonuses for the coming weeks:

June 18 – Swinub

  • Featured Pokémon: Swinub
  • Bonus: 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon

June 25 – Wingull

  • Bonus: 2× Stardust for catches

July 2 – Pidgey

  • Featured Pokémon: Pidgey
  • Bonus: 2× XP for evolving Pokémon

July 16 – Zubat

  • Bonus: 2× XP for catches

July 23 – Eevee

  • Featured Pokémon: Eevee
  • Bonus: 2× Candy for catches

July 30 – Bidoof

  • Bonus: 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon

Bonuses Aim to Support Different Playstyles

The upcoming schedule offers a variety of rewards aimed at different types of players. Trainers focused on leveling up will benefit from the XP events, while those looking to build resources can take advantage of the Stardust and Candy bonuses.

Transfer bonuses provide an opportunity to clear storage while earning extra Candy, whereas catch bonuses encourage players to actively hunt featured Pokémon during the event window.

A Return to Predictability

With Pokémon GO celebrating its tenth year, the game continues to evolve through regular updates and changes to community events. The decision to restore weekly Spotlight Hours with bonus rewards suggests a renewed focus on providing players with a consistent schedule and meaningful incentives to participate.

For longtime trainers and newcomers alike, the return of weekly Spotlight Hours should make it easier to plan sessions and maximize rewards throughout the summer.
