Pokemon GO players are running out of time to catch one of the game’s rarest event Pokémon. The exclusive 10th Anniversary Gimmighoul will leave the game permanently on August 1, giving trainers only until July 31 to secure this limited-time collectible.
The event version features a unique coin with the number “10” on it. Trainers can also hunt for a shiny version and a Special Background variant. Those lucky enough to obtain both will own one of the rarest Gimmighoul available in Pokemon GO.
Several ways to catch Anniversary Gimmighoul
Players can currently encounter the anniversary Gimmighoul through several different methods.
The most common options include using Coin Bags or progressing through the GO Pass. Trainers can also find Gimmighoul at Golden Lure Modules, although these encounters are much harder to catch.
Players who want a guaranteed encounter can purchase the $1.99 Timed Research, which rewards a Gimmighoul after completing its tasks.
Because the event ends on July 31, anyone hoping for a shiny or Special Background version should start hunting before time runs out.
Professor Willow Pikachu also leaves soon
The anniversary Gimmighoul is not the only limited-time Pokémon disappearing.
The special Professor Willow Pikachu remains available through selected Raids and Timed Research during July. The event celebrates Professor Willow’s birthday and ends at 8:00 PM local time on its final day.
Unlike Gimmighoul, this Pikachu will likely return during a future birthday celebration, making it less exclusive.
August brings more content to Pokemon GO
Niantic already has several new events planned for August.
On August 22, players can participate in Mega Starmie Raid Day between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM local time. The event includes increased shiny odds in Super Mega Raids, guarantees a Mega Level 1 Starmie after successful raids, and gives trainers six free Raid Passes.
Later in the month, the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival introduces Arrokuda, Barraskewda, and Cramorant to Pokemon GO for the first time.
Final thoughts
If you still need the 10th Anniversary Gimmighoul, now is the time to act. Once the event ends on July 31, this special version leaves Pokemon GO permanently. Trainers looking for the rarest possible collection should focus on finding a shiny version with the exclusive Special Background before the deadline expires.
