Bloober Team has released the first hotfix for Cronos: The New Dawn, addressing critical save system issues, bugged achievements, and small quality-of-life updates. Released on September 10, the patch (ver. 323631) is now available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 update expected shortly.
The hotfix arrives less than a week after launch, a sign of the developer’s commitment to keeping one of 2025’s most talked-about horror titles polished and stable.
Fixes for Save and Autosave Problems
One of the most significant parts of the update focuses on the game’s save and autosave systems. Some players encountered progression blocks due to compatibility issues, including:
- Crashes during optional dialogues with the Warden.
- Church doors and barricades failing to open after puzzles.
- Boss fights where the Pathfinder character could disappear.
- Autosave triggers failing in the Apartment Zone (Past and Future).
All of these issues have now been resolved, ensuring smoother progression for players across different story paths.
Achievement Issues Patched
Three major achievements were failing to register properly before the hotfix:
- Boon of the Relics – weapons purchased at the workstation were not counting.
- Pathfinder – would not unlock if players skipped a cutscene early.
- Pyromaniac – failed to trigger after burning biomass with the Pyre ability.
With the patch applied, players can now unlock these achievements without issue.
Minor Fixes and Improvements
Beyond critical bugs, Bloober also fixed several smaller problems, such as invisible shop items, HDR calibration inconsistencies, and incorrect input displays for certain weapons. Environmental details, like loot crates near Jędruś’s store and fear traps in the church zone, have also been corrected.
Quality-of-Life Additions
The hotfix introduces a few helpful enhancements, including:
- An extra autosave before the brothers’ cutscene in the factory.
- A New Game+ screen informing players that their equipment is stored in the stash.
- Streamlined EULA scrolling with unnecessary markers removed.
Update for Switch 2 Players Coming Soon
While the hotfix is already live on most platforms, Bloober confirmed that Switch 2 players will need to wait a little longer. Updates on Nintendo’s new console typically roll out within a few days, so players should expect the fix to arrive shortly.
Cronos: The New Dawn has quickly established itself as one of the standout horror releases of 2025, following in the footsteps of Bloober Team’s acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake. With the first hotfix now live, players can expect a more stable and immersive survival horror experience.
