Fans who missed out on Nintendo’s limited-edition Zelda Switch 2 will soon have another chance to purchase one. Best Buy has confirmed that the 40th Anniversary The Legend of Zelda console and matching Pro Controller will return to selected stores on November 5, 2026.
The restock coincides with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2. However, availability will remain limited, and not every Best Buy location will participate in the event.
Zelda Switch 2 Returns After Initial Sellout
The anniversary console attracted considerable attention when Nintendo first introduced it. Both the console and its matching Pro Controller sold out almost immediately, leaving many collectors disappointed.
Best Buy has now confirmed that participating stores will receive additional stock for its upcoming midnight launch event. Sales will begin at midnight Eastern Time on November 5, giving customers another opportunity to purchase the special-edition hardware.
The Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 costs $520, while the matching Pro Controller carries a $100 price tag. Best Buy has not disclosed how many units each participating store will receive.
Customers who pre-ordered Ocarina of Time through Best Buy may also have an opportunity to purchase the hardware when collecting their game. However, a game pre-order does not guarantee that either item will be available.
A Console Celebrating 40 Years of Zelda
Unlike hardware designed around a single game, Nintendo’s anniversary edition celebrates the wider history of The Legend of Zelda.
The console features green Joy-Con 2 controllers, decorative Triforce elements, and a distinctive gold-and-black dock. Its matching Pro Controller follows the same anniversary theme, giving collectors another way to celebrate the franchise.
Interestingly, Nintendo has not designed the console specifically around the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake. Instead, the anniversary branding pays tribute to the series as a whole.
The console also marks Nintendo’s first themed Switch 2 model, making it a notable release for hardware collectors.
Ocarina of Time Remake Adds to the Excitement
The timing of Best Buy’s restock is unlikely to go unnoticed. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake arrives on the same day, bringing one of Nintendo’s most celebrated adventures to its latest console.
Rather than simply improving the resolution of the original Nintendo 64 release, the remake introduces substantial visual and gameplay changes.
Nintendo has redesigned familiar locations, including Castle Town, while giving characters and environments more detailed appearances. Players can also expect a fully controllable camera and a dedicated jump button, offering greater freedom than the original adventure.
These changes aim to modernize the experience while preserving the story and world that made Ocarina of Time a classic.
With excitement surrounding the remake continuing to grow, the anniversary hardware could attract even more attention during launch week.
Will Other Retailers Restock the Zelda Switch 2?
Although Best Buy has confirmed another shipment, Nintendo has not announced a broader restock across other retailers.
That leaves several questions unanswered, particularly for collectors outside the United States. European retailers have not received a confirmed restock schedule as part of Best Buy’s announcement.
It is possible that other stores will receive additional inventory around the game’s launch. However, that remains speculation until Nintendo or individual retailers make an announcement.
The limited availability also means interested buyers should check participating Best Buy locations before November 5. Some stores may receive considerably fewer units than others.
For collectors who missed the original release, the upcoming restock provides a welcome second chance. Whether Nintendo will continue producing the anniversary hardware afterward remains uncertain.
With Ocarina of Time returning and Zelda celebrating its 40th anniversary, November 5 is shaping up to be an important day for Nintendo fans.
