Activision Delays Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 3

Activision has officially announced a delay for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 3, pushing the highly anticipated update to Thursday, April 3. The publisher cites the need for additional time to ensure a polished experience, marking the second consecutive season where Warzone players have faced setbacks in content expectations.

Aiming for a Bigger Season

Initially scheduled to arrive in March, Season 3 was set to follow the mid-season updates of Black Ops 6 and Warzone. While Black Ops 6 players received new maps, game modes, and other fresh content, Warzone fans were left with little more than a new perk in Season 2. Activision acknowledged the limited additions at the time, stating that it was prioritizing gameplay tuning, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.

Given Warzone’s lackluster Season 2, Activision is now setting expectations high for Season 3. The delay, announced via Call of Duty’s official channels, was framed as a necessary step to ensure the update meets player expectations. “Season 3 is a big moment for Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6,” the publisher stated, promising more details following Warzone’s fifth anniversary next week.

Verdansk Rumors Continue to Build

As part of Warzone’s fifth-anniversary celebrations on March 10, Activision has already launched a special Verdansk merchandise collection. However, fans are far more interested in the rumored return of Verdansk itself—the original Battle Royale map that launched with Warzone in 2020.

Activision has confirmed that Verdansk will return in Spring 2025, but an exact release date has yet to be revealed. Given the growing number of leaks, many speculate that Season 3 could mark the long-awaited comeback of the iconic map, potentially explaining why Activision is calling it a “big moment” for the franchise.

Returning Operators and Weapons?

Leaks surrounding Season 3 suggest a wave of fan-favorite Modern Warfare content could make a return to Warzone. As new Call of Duty titles integrate with Warzone, older content is often removed, meaning weapons and operators from 2019’s Modern Warfare are currently unavailable in the free-to-play battle royale. However, recent leaks indicate that Season 3 could bring back some classic operators and weapons, including:

  • Operators: Roze and Mace
  • Weapons: Grau 5.56 Assault Rifle and HDR Sniper Rifle

With a confirmed April 3 release date, Call of Duty fans won’t have to wait too long to see what Season 3 has in store. Until then, all eyes are on Warzone’s anniversary event, which could bring more major announcements about the future of the franchise.
