Nintendo has announced a major content roadmap for Pokemon Pokopia, featuring a substantial free update alongside a new Expansion Pass that will bring three paid DLC packs to the Switch 2 exclusive over the next several years.
Since launching earlier this year, Pokemon Pokopia has become one of Nintendo’s biggest successes, earning mostly positive reviews and attracting players who enjoy cozy life-simulation gameplay mixed with Pokemon collecting. Many fans have already spent hundreds of hours building towns and exploring the world.
Free Ocean Update Arrives in August
The biggest free addition will arrive in August and introduces the Dive ability, allowing players to travel beneath the waves and explore entirely new underwater environments.
These ocean areas will feature additional Pokemon and support many of the same activities available on land. Players will even be able to construct homes and create their own underwater communities, greatly expanding the building possibilities available in Pokopia.
Expansion Pass Includes Three Paid DLC Packs
Nintendo also revealed an Expansion Pass that will provide access to three separate content packs. Pricing has not yet been announced, although more details are expected later.
Bubbly Basin Launches First
The first expansion, called Bubbly Basin, launches alongside the free update. It introduces an entirely new town that players can restore and customize.
More Content Planned for Late 2026
A second DLC pack is scheduled for late 2026. Nintendo has confirmed that it will include additional features, but specific details remain under wraps for now.
Another New Town Coming in 2027
The third and final expansion is planned for 2027. Like the first pack, it will add another town to the game, although its theme and gameplay features have yet to be revealed.
A Long-Term Roadmap for Pokopia
With underwater exploration arriving for free and multiple expansions planned over the coming years, Nintendo appears committed to supporting Pokemon Pokopia for the long term. The new content will expand the world both vertically through underwater areas and geographically with additional towns, giving players even more places to build, explore, and collect Pokemon.
Further information regarding pricing and the remaining expansion packs is expected in the months ahead.
