Remedy CEO Believes GTA 6 Could Benefit More Than Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be one of the biggest game launches in years, and many developers are likely watching its release window carefully. A game of that size can dominate attention, sales charts, social media, and player spending, making it difficult for other titles to stand out.

However, Remedy Entertainment’s CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon appears to see the situation differently. Instead of viewing GTA 6 as a threat to Control Resonant, he believes the launch could create a wider boost for the entire gaming industry.

GTA 6 Could Bring Players Back to Consoles

Gaudechon suggested that GTA 6 may put a larger spotlight on gaming in 2026 and possibly encourage more people to buy or return to consoles. That could become important for other studios as well, especially if players stay active after finishing GTA 6 or begin looking for more games to play on their newly purchased hardware.

For Remedy, this could create an opportunity rather than a problem. Control Resonant may not need to compete directly with GTA 6 in the same way a smaller launch normally would. Instead, it could benefit from a larger number of active players paying attention to major releases.

Remedy Is Focused on Long-Term Success

Gaudechon also made it clear that Remedy is not only looking at short-term launch sales. Modern games often have a longer life cycle, with updates, community interest, discounts, word of mouth, and platform visibility helping titles grow beyond the first few days.

That mindset fits Remedy’s usual approach. The studio has built a strong reputation through games such as Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne, with many players discovering its titles long after release. Control Resonant could follow a similar path if it delivers the quality and identity fans expect.

Control Resonant Still Needs to Stand Out

Even if GTA 6 brings more attention to gaming, Control Resonant will still need to prove itself. Remedy is known for strange worlds, strong atmosphere, supernatural storytelling, and memorable gameplay ideas. Those strengths could help the game cut through the noise, especially for players looking for something different after GTA 6.

The main challenge will be timing, visibility, and making sure players understand why Control Resonant is worth picking up. GTA 6 may dominate the conversation, but it cannot fill every corner of the gaming market.

A Confident Position From Remedy

Rather than showing concern, Remedy appears confident that 2026 could become a strong year for gaming overall. If GTA 6 increases console activity and brings more attention back to major game releases, other studios may benefit from that momentum as well.

For Control Resonant, the key will be delivering a game strong enough to stand on its own. Remedy seems ready to bet on quality, identity, and long-term player interest instead of treating GTA 6 as an unbeatable obstacle.
