Pokemon GO Reveals Forever Forward Season Ahead of Major Anniversary Plans

Pokemon GO has officially revealed its next seasonal update, titled Forever Forward, which is scheduled to begin on June 2 and continue until September 8, 2026. The newly announced season arrives during a massive period for the mobile game as Niantic prepares for Pokemon GO’s 10th anniversary celebrations alongside one of the biggest GO Fest events in recent years.

The current Memories in Motion season is nearing its conclusion after introducing several new Pokemon into the game, including Blipbug, Flittle, Silicobra, Orthworm, and Mimikyu. The season also helped kickstart anniversary celebrations connected to the wider Pokemon franchise milestone events earlier this year.

Now, attention is shifting toward what could become one of the most content-heavy seasons Pokemon GO has released in years.

Forever Forward Begins June 2

Niantic confirmed the new season through a short teaser trailer showing a player approaching a visor-wearing Pikachu, a costume variant that first appeared during the Spring Marathon event in May 2026.

The teaser itself remains fairly mysterious, but several small details already hint toward the season’s overall direction. Confetti effects, anniversary visuals, and the appearance of the official 10th anniversary logo strongly suggest that Forever Forward will continue Pokemon GO’s ongoing celebration events throughout the summer.

Unlike the nostalgia-focused Memories in Motion season, Forever Forward appears to lean heavily into the future of Pokemon GO and the next era of the game.

The timing also lines up with some of the biggest upcoming events currently planned for the mobile title.

Mega Mewtwo Finally Arrives During GO Fest 2026

One of the biggest highlights of the season will be the long-awaited arrival of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y during GO Fest 2026.

The highly anticipated Mega Evolutions are expected to become the centerpiece of this year’s global event, which is scheduled for July 11 and July 12. Alongside Mega Mewtwo, players can also expect the debut of Zeraora and multiple raid rotations, event bonuses, and special activities.

Interest surrounding Mega Mewtwo has already exploded within the community after early access raids became available during the Tokyo GO Fest event. The in-person celebration in Japan officially kicked off this year’s GO Fest schedule, with Chicago and Copenhagen next in line during June.

For many players, Mega Mewtwo represents one of the biggest Pokemon GO releases in years due to the Pokemon’s massive popularity and extremely powerful Mega forms.

Community Days and Seasonal Content Already Teased

Although Niantic has not yet released a full content roadmap for Forever Forward, several upcoming events have already been confirmed.

The next Community Day is scheduled for June 20, with teaser footage hinting that an Ice-type Pokemon will become the featured star of the event. However, unlike previous seasons, Forever Forward will reportedly not include a Community Day Classic event.

Niantic is also expected to release a larger seasonal trailer soon that could reveal additional Pokemon debuts, seasonal mechanics, and event bonuses planned throughout the summer.

With Pokemon GO reaching its tenth anniversary on July 6, many fans are also hoping for unique limited-time rewards, anniversary-themed costume Pokemon, and special gameplay bonuses.

Team Leader Quests and GO Pass Rewards Arrive Before the New Season

Before Forever Forward officially launches, players still have several limited-time activities to complete during the final weeks of Memories in Motion.

From May 26 until June 15, players can participate in special Team Leader questlines focused around Candela, Blanche, and Spark. These missions will include objectives tied to catching Pokemon, hatching Eggs, and completing battles.

Limited GO Pass rewards will also become available during the event period, giving players opportunities to unlock costumed versions of Lapras, Elekid, and Ponyta.

With GO Fest 2026, Mega Mewtwo, anniversary celebrations, and an entirely new seasonal theme all arriving within the next few months, Forever Forward is shaping up to be one of the biggest seasonal updates Pokemon GO has ever attempted.
