Forza Horizon 6 Goes Gold Ahead of May Launch

Forza Horizon 6 has officially gone gold, confirming that development on the launch version is complete and the game is ready for distribution. This milestone means the build has been finalized for both digital storefronts and physical production, putting the release firmly on track.

With the finish line in sight, players can now begin preparing for launch as early access draws closer.

Release Date and Platforms Confirmed

The game is scheduled to launch on May 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Both platforms already have active store listings, allowing players to secure their copies ahead of release.

A PlayStation 5 version is also planned, but its release window remains unclear. Current information suggests it may arrive later in 2026, though no exact timing has been confirmed.

Preload and Storage Requirements

Preloading is already available through the Xbox app for players who have preordered the game or are subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. A Steam preload is expected to follow soon.

Storage requirements are significant, reflecting the scale of the open-world experience. Xbox Series S players will need around 130 GB, while Xbox Series X requires approximately 135 GB. On PC, the game will demand about 160 GB of storage, with an SSD required for optimal performance.

Early Access and Preorder Bonuses

Players who purchase the Premium Edition or opt for the Premium Upgrade will gain access to the game four days before the official release date. This early access period gives dedicated players a head start on exploration, progression, and multiplayer activities.

Preorders also include an exclusive bonus vehicle: a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, giving players a high-performance option right from the beginning.

New Features and Progression Teased

While full details are still being kept under wraps, several features have already been teased ahead of launch.

Horizon Play will return as the core multiplayer experience, combining familiar elements with new additions designed to expand player interaction and events.

The in-game radio lineup is set to feature well-known artists, including Linkin Park, continuing the series’ tradition of curated soundtracks.

A new Loyalty Reward system is also being introduced. This system will grant special rewards, including vehicles and items, to players based on their history with previous Forza titles. More details about how this system works are expected closer to release.

Final Stretch Before Launch

With Forza Horizon 6 now officially gold, the final phase before launch is focused on rollout, preload access, and early gameplay experiences. The confirmed release date, combined with early access availability and teased features, positions the game as one of the major racing releases of the year.

As more details emerge in the days leading up to launch, players can expect a clearer look at the full scope of content and systems waiting in the next Horizon festival.
