ARC Raiders Riven Tides Update Disrupts Crossplay

The latest update for ARC Raiders has introduced a mix of fresh content and unexpected problems. The Riven Tides update (patch 1.26.0), released on April 28 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, has reportedly disabled crossplay for a large portion of the player base.

Players quickly noticed that the crossplay toggle was greyed out, making it impossible to enable cross-platform matchmaking or join friends on other systems. The issue effectively fragments the player base and limits one of the game’s key social features.

Developer Acknowledges Issue, Offers Temporary Workaround

Developer Embark Studios has confirmed the problem and stated that a fix is currently in progress. However, more than 24 hours after the initial reports, no further update has been provided regarding a timeline for resolution.

In the meantime, a temporary workaround has been shared. Resetting all settings to default reportedly restores crossplay functionality. The downside is significant, as this also wipes custom control schemes and accessibility configurations, forcing players to manually reconfigure their setup.

New Map, Enemy, and Gameplay Systems Introduced

Despite the crossplay disruption, the Riven Tides update delivers a substantial amount of new content.

A brand-new map, also called Riven Tides, has been added, expanding the playable world with fresh environments. Alongside it comes a new “Beachcombing” map condition, introducing a metal detector mechanic that allows players to search for buried treasure.

The update also introduces a new enemy type known as the ARC Turbine, adding further challenge and variety to encounters.

Major Progression Shift with Damage-Based Challenge

One of the most impactful changes comes through the newly opened Expedition Window. Instead of relying on stash value or collected currency, progression is now tied to a damage-based objective.

Players must deal a total of 100,000 damage before May 11 to earn five additional Skill Points. This is roughly equivalent to destroying around 20 Bastions, marking a clear shift toward more combat-focused progression.

This change signals a move toward rewarding active engagement and combat performance rather than passive accumulation.

Roadmap Uncertainty After April Update Cycle

The Riven Tides patch concludes a four-update stretch released between January and April. While Embark has previously stated that ARC Raiders is planned to receive long-term support—potentially spanning up to a decade—there is currently no confirmed roadmap for the remainder of 2026.

With crossplay issues still unresolved and no clear outlook on future updates, players are left waiting for both technical fixes and clarity on what comes next.
