Pokemon GO is continuing its 10th anniversary momentum with the debut of three Gen 8 Pokémon during the upcoming Bug Out event. Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle — originally introduced in the Galar region — are officially making their way to the mobile hit this March.
With Super Mega Raids closing out February and a Scorbunny Community Day already confirmed for March, Niantic is stacking the month with content. Now, Bug-type fans have even more to look forward to.
Bug Out Event Dates and Details
The Bug Out event will run from:
March 17 at 10:00 AM to March 23 at 8:00 PM (local time)
During the event, players will be able to encounter and evolve the newly added Gen 8 Bug-type line:
- Blipbug can be found in the wild
- It will also appear in One-Star Raids
- A Blipbug encounter is included in the GO Pass
Evolution Requirements
- 25 Blipbug Candy to evolve into Dottler
- 100 Blipbug Candy to evolve Dottler into Orbeetle
For collectors and competitive players alike, this marks the full arrival of the evolutionary line in one event window.
Increased Wild Encounters and Shiny Chances
As expected, Bug Out comes packed with boosted spawns and Shiny opportunities.

Lure Module Rotation Schedule
Lure Modules will attract specific Bug-types during rotating windows:
- March 17–19: Paras and Sizzlipede
- March 19–21: Cutiefly and Sizzlipede
- March 21–23: Combee and Sizzlipede
Paras, Combee, and Cutiefly will have an increased chance of being Shiny when attracted by standard Lure Modules.

Field Research Tasks
Event-themed Field Research will reward players with items and encounters with featured Pokémon.
