Pokémon GO is bringing back its Wild Area event in November 2026, with both in-person and global events planned. This year’s edition will focus heavily on Steel- and Dragon-type Pokémon, while also introducing several major debuts.
The event forms part of the ongoing Twilight Trails season, which began on September 8 and will run for three months. Alongside the Wild Area, the season includes Community Days, limited-time events, new Pokémon, Mega Evolutions, Dynamax forms, and another Team GO Rocket takeover.
For players mainly interested in Wild Area, however, November is going to be the month to watch.
Pokémon GO Wild Area 2026 Dates
The Wild Area will initially return through two simultaneous in-person events:
- November 6–8: Sendai, Japan
- November 6–8: Mexico City, Mexico
- November 14–15: Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global
Tickets will be sold for the two physical events as well as the Global event. However, players will still be able to participate in the basic version of Wild Area: Global without purchasing a ticket.
The Global event will run from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM local time on both November 14 and November 15.
Steel and Dragon Pokémon Take Over Wild Area
Steel- and Dragon-type Pokémon will be at the center of Wild Area 2026.
Throughout the event, Pokémon encounters will rotate between dedicated Dragon and Steel hours. This should give players plenty of opportunities to hunt Pokémon belonging to both types while working through the event’s other activities.
Players attending the physical Wild Area events will also get access to GO Safari Balls. These special Poké Balls are designed to help catch particularly difficult Pokémon encountered during Wild Area.
Another unusual addition will appear in three-star raids.
Machamp wearing a modern jacket will make an appearance, giving collectors another costumed Pokémon to hunt. This version of Machamp will also be able to learn Karate Chop as its featured attack.
Dynamax Dialga and Palkia Make Their Debut
Two of Sinnoh’s biggest Legendary Pokémon are joining Pokémon GO’s Dynamax system.
Dynamax Dialga and Dynamax Palkia will make their Pokémon GO debuts during the in-person Wild Area events.
Their introduction significantly expands the pool of high-profile Pokémon available through Dynamax content and gives players another reason to pay attention to the physical events before the Global celebration begins.
Dialga and Palkia are not the only notable Pokémon appearing during Wild Area.
Hisuian Sliggoo and Hisuian Goodra will also become available in the wild for the first time, making it considerably easier for players to encounter the Hisuian evolutionary line.
Meanwhile, Legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias are returning as part of the event.
Wild Area Global Comes With Extra Bonuses
Players who cannot travel to Sendai or Mexico City will still have plenty to do when Wild Area: Global begins on November 14.
The Global event will feature increased limits relating to Raid Passes and Max Particles, allowing players to participate in more of the event’s raid and Dynamax activities.
Routes will also feature special Mighty Pokémon encounters, while spinning PokéStops will give players a chance to obtain GO Safari Balls.
Several Pokémon will additionally have access to featured attacks during the event:
- Magnezone: Magnet Bomb
- Flygon: Earth Power
- Modern Jacket Machamp: Karate Chop
Combined with the rotating Steel and Dragon encounters, the Global event should offer plenty to chase even for players who decide not to purchase a ticket.
Team GO Rocket Strikes Before Wild Area
Wild Area isn’t the only major event planned during the Twilight Trails season.
On October 2, Harvest Festival: Taken Over will begin, bringing Team GO Rocket and Giovanni back into the spotlight.
Giovanni will return with Shadow Zekrom, giving players another powerful Legendary Shadow Pokémon to add to their collection.
The event will also introduce Shiny Shroodle for the first time.
Players can expect more frequent Team GO Rocket appearances during the event, alongside an increased chance of encountering Shiny Slugma.
That gives Pokémon GO players a busy October before attention shifts toward Wild Area in November.
November Could Be One of Pokémon GO’s Biggest Months of 2026
Wild Area 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest events remaining on Pokémon GO’s calendar this year.
The combination of Dynamax Dialga and Palkia, wild Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra, returning Latios and Latias, GO Safari Balls, Mighty Pokémon, exclusive attacks, and a Steel-versus-Dragon theme gives players plenty of reasons to participate.
The decision to once again offer a free level of participation for Wild Area: Global is also important. Players who don’t want to purchase another event ticket can still take part, while ticket holders will receive access to additional content and bonuses.
With the in-person celebrations beginning on November 6 and the worldwide event following just one week later, Pokémon GO’s Wild Area is officially returning for another round.
