Pokemon GO is preparing to leave its anniversary celebrations behind with the reveal of its next major season. Twilight Trails will begin on September 8 and continue until December 1, 2026, bringing several new Pokemon, Mega Raid content, Dynamax additions and another round of monthly GO Passes.
The new season follows Forever Forward, which kept players busy throughout the summer with anniversary events and a heavy focus on Mega Evolution. Twilight Trails will continue some of that momentum while introducing several creatures that have yet to appear in Pokemon GO.
Maschiff and Mabosstiff are coming to Pokemon GO
One of the biggest confirmations is the arrival of Maschiff and Mabosstiff. The two Dark-type Pokemon originally appeared in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and will make their Pokemon GO debut during Twilight Trails.
Maschiff evolves into Mabosstiff, meaning players will have another evolutionary family to add to their Pokedex during the season.
The announcement also confirms more Mega Evolution content. Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure are scheduled to appear in raids, while additional Mega Raid features have also been teased.
A Mega Squads event will help kick off the season’s raid activities, suggesting Mega Pokemon will remain an important part of Pokemon GO even after the conclusion of Forever Forward.
More Dynamax Pokemon join Max Battles
Max Battles are also getting a sizeable expansion throughout Twilight Trails.
Several Pokemon will receive Dynamax forms and become available through Max Battles during the season. The confirmed lineup currently includes:
- Rhyhorn
- Sneasel
- Sizzlipede
- Uxie
- Mesprit
- Azelf
The inclusion of Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf is particularly notable, as the Lake Guardians traditionally have strong regional associations in Pokemon GO. Their appearance in the Max Battle system gives players another reason to keep an eye on how Dynamax encounters develop throughout the season.
Twilight Trails Community Day dates confirmed
Pokemon GO has also confirmed its Community Day calendar for Twilight Trails.
The season will feature a Community Day Classic on September 12, followed by regular Community Day events on October 12 and November 21.
The featured Pokemon for these dates have not yet been fully detailed, leaving several announcements still to come as Twilight Trails gets underway.
December falls outside the season’s December 1 end date, so any traditional end-of-year Community Day event would belong to Pokemon GO’s following season.
Monthly GO Passes continue with legendary rewards
The GO Pass system will continue throughout Twilight Trails with both free and paid reward tracks.
Each pass will last approximately one month, allowing players to increase their rank and collect rewards as they progress. One of the biggest incentives arrives at Rank 100, where players can earn an encounter with that month’s featured legendary Pokemon.
Three legendary Pokemon have already been confirmed for the upcoming passes:
- Kyogre
- Groudon
- Latios
Milestone bonuses will also unlock every 25 ranks. These can provide passive benefits such as increased XP, longer Adventure Incense duration and higher Gift limits.
The system gives regular players additional long-term objectives beyond individual events, raids and Community Days, although some rewards will remain exclusive to the paid GO Pass track.
Quick appraisal button begins appearing for players
A smaller but potentially useful quality-of-life improvement is also starting to appear.
Some Pokemon GO players have received access to a new quick appraisal button, allowing them to check a Pokemon’s appraisal without navigating through the usual menus.
The feature does not appear to be available to everyone yet, suggesting that it is currently undergoing a gradual rollout or limited testing.
If eventually released globally, it could make sorting large numbers of Pokemon considerably faster, particularly after Community Days, Spotlight Hours and other high-volume catching events.
Twilight Trails starts September 8
Twilight Trails is shaping up to be another content-heavy season for Pokemon GO. Maschiff and Mabosstiff provide new Pokedex entries, Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure expand the Mega roster, and six more Pokemon are heading into the Dynamax system.
The continued GO Pass structure also means Kyogre, Groudon and Latios will become major progression rewards over the coming months.
With Twilight Trails running from September 8 until December 1, 2026, more event announcements and Pokemon debuts are likely to fill out the calendar as the season progresses.
