Pokémon GO appears to be testing another quality-of-life improvement, with some players gaining access to a new quick appraise button. The feature makes it possible to jump directly into a Pokémon’s appraisal without opening the usual menu first.
While the change is relatively small, it could save a considerable amount of time for players who regularly check large numbers of Pokémon for strong Individual Values, better known as IVs.
Pokémon GO Quick Appraise Button Removes an Extra Step
Players have started sharing screenshots and videos showing the new button appearing directly on a Pokémon’s information screen. Selecting it immediately starts the appraisal process.
Normally, players need to open the additional options menu and select the appraisal option from there. The new shortcut removes that extra interaction, making repeated IV checks considerably quicker.
The appraisal itself has not changed. Players will still see their respective team leader evaluate the Pokémon and display its Attack, Defense, and HP IV ratings.
For players who only occasionally check their Pokémon, the difference may be minor. However, those who regularly catch dozens or even hundreds of Pokémon during events could benefit substantially from the faster process.
Competitive Pokémon GO Players Could Benefit the Most
IV checking remains particularly important for players interested in GO Battle League, raids, and building optimized teams.
A Pokémon that initially looks unremarkable can sometimes have an excellent IV combination for PvP, while high-stat Pokémon are often desirable for raids and other PvE content. Quickly checking these values can therefore determine which Pokémon players keep and which ones they transfer.
The shortcut could also reduce the possibility of accidentally transferring something valuable while clearing Pokémon storage after a busy event.
Players frequently perform these checks during Community Days, Spotlight Hours, GO Fest events, and other periods where large numbers of Pokémon are caught within a short period.
Players Already Want Pokémon GO to Go One Step Further
Early community reactions to the quick appraise option appear largely positive, although some players believe Pokémon GO could simplify the system even further.
One suggestion is to display a Pokémon’s IV values directly on its information page instead of requiring players to enter the appraisal screen at all.
Doing so would make checking Pokémon even faster, particularly for experienced players who already understand how the IV system works.
Whether Pokémon GO will eventually move in that direction remains unclear. For now, the quick appraisal shortcut represents a smaller change that preserves the existing appraisal system while making it less cumbersome.
Quick Appraise Button Does Not Appear Available to Everyone Yet
The new Pokémon GO quick appraise button currently appears to have a limited rollout. Some players have access to it, while others are still using the existing appraisal process.
That suggests the feature may currently be undergoing testing before a possible wider release.
A broader rollout could potentially arrive alongside the upcoming Twilight Trails season, although no official release date for the feature has been confirmed.
Twilight Trails begins on September 8 and will introduce another wave of new Pokémon, events, raids, and seasonal content. A quality-of-life update arriving around the same period would therefore make sense, but players should not consider that timing confirmed.
Pokémon GO Continues Adding Convenience Features
The appraisal shortcut follows several attempts to make everyday Pokémon GO activities faster and easier.
One recent example is the Explorer Gadget, which provides some functionality similar to physical Pokémon GO accessories by helping players interact with Pokémon and PokéStops with fewer manual actions, although it comes with its own limitations.
Features such as these may not fundamentally change Pokémon GO, but they can significantly reduce repetitive actions for players who spend hours catching, sorting, and managing their collections.
The quick appraise button falls firmly into that category. Removing a single menu interaction might sound insignificant, but repeated hundreds of times, it could become one of those small improvements that players quickly wonder how they managed without.
