Pokémon GO is preparing to leave the Forever Forward season behind, with Scopely Explore officially teasing what players can expect next. The upcoming Twilight Trails season will run from September 8 until December 1 and appears ready to continue the game’s recent focus on new Pokémon and Mega Evolutions.
A first teaser trailer for Twilight Trails does not reveal everything outright. However, several recognizable silhouettes give players a good idea of what is coming. Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor appear to be among the season’s major additions, while Maschiff and Zorua are also featured.
The latter could be particularly important, as Zorua has already been linked to an upcoming Community Day.
Twilight Trails Continues Pokémon GO’s Mega Evolution Push
Mega Evolution has played a major role in Pokémon GO throughout 2026, particularly alongside content connected to Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Forever Forward continued that trend with several major additions. Players have already seen the arrival of Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y, alongside Mega Starmie. Pokémon GO Fest 2026 also introduced Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.
Twilight Trails seemingly has no intention of slowing things down.
The silhouettes of Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor in the teaser strongly suggest both Pokémon will make their Pokémon GO debuts during the new season. Exactly when they will arrive remains unknown, and Scopely has not yet revealed their respective events.
If both arrive during Twilight Trails, however, players will have at least two more Mega Pokémon to hunt before the end of 2026.
Zorua Community Day Looks Increasingly Likely
Zorua’s appearance is arguably one of the more interesting parts of the Twilight Trails teaser.
Scopely previously revealed the Community Day schedule covering the season. September will feature a Community Day Classic, while regular Community Day events are planned for October and November.
The featured Pokémon themselves were not initially announced.
However, Zorua has already been linked to an October 10 Community Day through previously reported information. Its appearance in the Twilight Trails teaser now adds considerably more weight to the possibility that October will finally give Zorua the spotlight.
Neither September’s Community Day Classic nor November’s regular Community Day Pokémon has been revealed.
December is also worth watching. Pokémon GO has traditionally used its December Community Day as a larger catch-up event, giving players another opportunity to encounter Pokémon featured throughout the year. If that tradition continues, many of 2026’s Community Day Pokémon could return before the year ends.
Maschiff Could Finally Bring Mabosstiff to Pokémon GO
Another recognizable Pokémon shown in the trailer is Maschiff, the Dark-type Pokémon originally introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Its inclusion also opens the door for Mabosstiff.
Maschiff evolves into Mabosstiff, meaning it would make sense for both Pokémon to arrive together. Mabosstiff became particularly memorable in Scarlet and Violet thanks to its role in Arven’s storyline, where players helped Arven search for the Herba Mystica needed to save his sick partner.
Pokémon GO does not always introduce related Pokémon immediately, though.
The developers have previously staggered Pokémon releases to better fit future events and seasonal themes. Cramorant is one example of a Pokémon whose arrival was held back despite other related content appearing earlier.
For now, Maschiff is the Pokémon actually teased for Twilight Trails. Mabosstiff remains a likely consequence of its arrival rather than a confirmed addition.
Forever Forward Still Has One Huge Event Left
Before Twilight Trails begins, Pokémon GO still needs to close out Forever Forward.
That will happen with Pokémon GO Fest: Mega Finale, scheduled for September 5 and September 6.
The event will introduce three additional Mega Evolutions:
- Mega Greninja
- Mega Chesnaught
- Mega Delphox
That gives players a major Mega-focused event immediately before Twilight Trails begins on September 8.
The timing makes the transition between seasons especially interesting. Rather than ending Pokémon GO’s current Mega Evolution push with the Mega Finale, Scopely appears prepared to carry that momentum directly into Twilight Trails with Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor.
Twilight Trails Is Already Looking Busy
Scopely has only provided an early look at Twilight Trails, so a considerable amount of the season remains under wraps.
Even so, the first teaser gives players plenty to watch.
Mega Chandelure and Mega Staraptor appear positioned to become two of the season’s headline additions, while Maschiff could finally bring the Mabosstiff evolutionary family into Pokémon GO. Zorua’s appearance also strengthens expectations surrounding its rumored October Community Day.
With three Community Day dates, new Pokémon and additional Mega Evolutions already on the horizon, Twilight Trails could keep Pokémon GO’s packed 2026 schedule moving right through the final months of the year.
