Pokopia has officially released its massive 2.0 update, bringing one of the game’s biggest features yet. Players can now dive beneath the ocean, build underwater settlements, and enjoy a long list of quality-of-life improvements. At the same time, the game’s first paid Expansion Pass has gone live with the release of the Bubbly Basin DLC.
The update gives every player access to new gameplay features, while the Expansion Pass expands the adventure with additional premium content planned through 2027.
Free Dive Feature Opens a New World
The biggest addition in the free update is Dive. Players can unlock the ability after learning Jump and Surf, raising Bleak Beach’s environment level to 5, and speaking with Manaphy.
Once unlocked, Dive allows players to explore underwater areas and build habitats, decorations, and entire underwater towns. While Bubbly Basin expands on these mechanics, the Dive feature itself is available to everyone at no extra cost.
Bubbly Basin Leads the Expansion Pass
The new Expansion Pass costs $34.99 and includes three DLC packs.
The first expansion, Bubbly Basin, is available now. Two more expansions will follow, with one scheduled for later in 2026 and another arriving sometime in 2027.
Developer support for Pokopia continues to grow following the game’s successful launch earlier this year, with regular events and major updates already rolling out.
Pokopia 2.0 Adds Plenty of New Features
Beyond underwater exploration, the 2.0 update introduces a wide range of gameplay improvements.
Players can now:
- Build underwater using the Build specialty.
- Use new items such as the Portal Pod and Safe.
- Unlock two new emotes: Lie Down and Ready, Set, Go!
- Choose from five additional hair colors.
- Create dynamic Ditto prints through Smearguru.
- Unlock new recipes by increasing Palette Town’s environment level.
- Move or delete multiple items at once.
- Place windows and doors with more precise depth controls.
These additions make decorating and customizing towns much easier than before.
Quality-of-Life Improvements Continue
The update also focuses heavily on improving everyday gameplay.
Companion Pokémon can now continue following players while using abilities like Surf, Glide, Rollout, and Magnet Rise. Building limits and photo limits have both increased, giving players more creative freedom.
Painting, crafting, Pokémon behavior, habitat recovery, rendering performance, and overall stability have also received noticeable improvements.
For players sensitive to camera movement, the developers have added new motion-sickness reduction options.
Dozens of Bug Fixes Included
Pokopia 2.0 also delivers an extensive list of bug fixes.
The update addresses issues involving multiplayer building, player movement, painting tools, item visuals, loading problems, and various other gameplay edge cases. Together with the performance improvements, the update aims to make the overall experience smoother across the board.
More DLC Is Already Planned
The Expansion Pass roadmap stretches well into 2027.
The second DLC will introduce the ability to dress Pokémon, giving players even more customization options. The third expansion will add an entirely new village to explore.
While the developers have not announced exact release dates for either expansion, more details are expected closer to launch.
