Fans hoping to play two major Tomb Raider games in 2027 will have to wait a little longer. While Tomb Raider: Throne of Atlantis is still scheduled to launch in early 2027, Tomb Raider: Catalyst has officially slipped into 2028.
The scheduling change means 2027 will now feature just one major Tomb Raider game instead of the anticipated double release.
Tomb Raider: Throne of Atlantis Still Launches in February 2027
The upcoming Tomb Raider: Throne of Atlantis remake remains on track for its previously announced release date of February 12, 2027.
After being delayed from its original launch window, the remake now appears to have a locked release date, giving fans a clear date to look forward to.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst Delayed Until 2028
Amazon Games has confirmed that Tomb Raider: Catalyst will no longer launch in 2027.
During a discussion about Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service, Amazon Games General Manager Jeffrey Gattis stated that Catalyst will “follow on in 2028.” However, he did not reveal a specific release date or launch window beyond the year itself.
Catalyst is a brand-new Tomb Raider adventure set in India and was originally expected to release sometime during 2027 following its reveal.
2027 Will No Longer Feature Two Tomb Raider Games
Before this announcement, fans expected both Throne of Atlantis and Catalyst to arrive in the same year.
With Catalyst now delayed, 2027 will instead be focused on the release of Throne of Atlantis, while the next brand-new Lara Croft adventure moves into 2028.
Although the delay may disappoint some players, it also gives Amazon Games additional development time for the new title.
Tomb Raider TV Series Could Fill the Gap
Outside of gaming, the Tomb Raider franchise still has plenty happening.
Amazon’s live-action Tomb Raider television series starring Sophie Turner is currently in production. While no official premiere date has been confirmed, many expect the series to debut in late 2027 if production continues as planned.
If that happens, it could help bridge the wait between Throne of Atlantis and the eventual release of Catalyst.
One Tomb Raider Game in 2027, Another in 2028
For now, the Tomb Raider release schedule is much clearer. Tomb Raider: Throne of Atlantis remains set for February 12, 2027, while Tomb Raider: Catalyst has officially moved into 2028. Fans will still receive a major Lara Croft adventure next year, but they’ll have to wait longer for the franchise’s newest chapter.
