With Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders set to begin on June 25, fans have been eagerly waiting for Rockstar Games to finally reveal how much the highly anticipated title will cost. However, recent rumors suggesting that the game could launch with a €90 price tag have now been challenged by a trusted industry insider.
Retail Listings Sparked Pricing Concerns
Earlier this week, listings discovered on the website of Portuguese retailer Fnac appeared to suggest that GTA 6 would start at €90. The pages quickly spread across social media, causing concern among players who were already worried that Rockstar and Take-Two could push the boundaries of modern AAA game pricing.
The lack of official pricing information from Rockstar has only added to the speculation. Although the company confirmed that pre-orders will open on June 25, no details regarding standard, deluxe, or collector’s edition prices have been announced.
Insider Says The Leak Is Not Legitimate
On June 21, well-known industry insider Billbil-kun addressed the growing panic surrounding the supposed leak. According to the insider, the listings are almost certainly based on placeholder information rather than actual product details.
Billbil-kun pointed to the European Article Numbers (EANs) attached to the different GTA 6 editions. These identifiers reportedly do not match the barcode patterns that Take-Two Interactive has historically used for its products.
While the insider acknowledged that there is a small possibility that Take-Two introduced a completely new SKU or barcode structure for GTA 6, they noted that such a move would be unusual. As a result, the simplest explanation is that the retailer used temporary placeholder data.
No Official Price Has Been Revealed
At the time of writing, Rockstar Games has not announced how much Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost. This means that the recently circulated €90 figure should be treated with caution until official information becomes available.
With pre-orders beginning on June 25, fans may not have to wait much longer before Rockstar finally reveals the game’s pricing structure. Until then, the rumored €90 price tag remains unconfirmed.
