Pokémon fans who have been waiting for more Rayquaza cards have plenty to look forward to, as The Pokémon Company has outlined several new releases across both the physical and digital card games.
Mega Rayquaza Headlines Multiple Sets
Mega Rayquaza will be the main attraction in the upcoming Pokémon TCG: Storm Emerald expansion in Japan. The set launches on July 31 and will be released internationally under the name Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign on November 6.
Both releases are part of the ongoing Mega Evolution series, which focuses on Mega-Evolved Pokémon returning to the trading card game. Although Mega Rayquaza has been confirmed as the flagship card, The Pokémon Company has yet to reveal its attacks, abilities, or card statistics.
It is also unknown how many cards will be included in either Storm Emerald or the Western Delta Reign release.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Players Get Early Access
Fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket will not have to wait until November to experience new Rayquaza-themed content. The game’s upcoming Ruler of the Skies expansion is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 30.
Like the physical sets, Ruler of the Skies will feature Mega Rayquaza as one of its major chase cards. Additional card details have not yet been announced.
More Mega Evolution Content Is on the Way
Players looking for Rayquaza cards sooner can currently find the standard version of the legendary Pokémon in the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution — Ascended Heroes expansion.
Delta Reign will also arrive shortly after another major release. The Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration expansion is set to launch globally on September 16, marking one of the rare occasions where Japan and international markets will receive a set simultaneously.
Each booster pack from the 30th Celebration expansion will include a special foil Pikachu card, with 30 unique designs available for collectors. Other Pokémon confirmed for the anniversary set include Ho-Oh, Miraidon, and Dialga.
Pitch Black Expansion Arrives First
Before any of the Mega Rayquaza-themed sets arrive, collectors will have another release to enjoy. The Pitch Black expansion is scheduled to launch on July 17, giving fans something new to open while waiting for the larger releases later in the year.
With several expansions arriving within a few months, Pokémon TCG players and collectors will have no shortage of new cards to chase as the Mega Evolution era continues.
