Michael Myers Leaving Dead by Daylight: What’s Changing in 2026

Dead by Daylight is officially preparing to remove one of its longest-running licensed chapters. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that the Halloween Chapter, featuring Michael Myers (The Shape) and Laurie Strode, will be delisted from the in-game store in early 2026.

The change marks the end of a near decade-long partnership, as Michael Myers was first introduced to the game in October 2016, alongside the iconic Haddonfield map.

Removal Date and Scope

The Halloween Chapter will be removed from sale on:

  • January 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. EST

Once this deadline passes, the chapter will no longer be purchasable in Dead by Daylight’s store.

What Will Be Removed

After the delisting date, the following content will no longer be available for purchase:

  • The Halloween Chapter itself
  • Michael Myers (The Shape)
  • Laurie Strode
  • The Haddonfield map
  • The Strode Realty Key from the Bloodweb
  • All Halloween-related shop listings

This affects new players only. The content is being removed from sale, not from the game entirely.

What Existing Owners Keep

Players who already own any Halloween-related content will retain full access:

  • Michael Myers and Laurie Strode remain fully playable
  • All previously purchased cosmetics remain usable
  • Gameplay functionality is unchanged

Character-specific perks will remain in the game, though their names will be changed. Importantly, perk effects and descriptions will stay exactly the same, ensuring no gameplay disruption.

Last-Chance Purchase Discount

To mark the chapter’s exit, Behaviour Interactive has applied a 50% discount to:

  • The Killer
  • The Survivor
  • All associated cosmetics

This discount will remain active until the January 19, 2026 deadline, giving players a clear final window to add the Halloween content to their collection.

Broader Franchise Context

The removal coincides with wider developments across horror game crossovers:

  • A second Stranger Things crossover is scheduled for January, with teasers hinting at a new Vecna variant and potential additional Survivors
  • Illfonic’s standalone Halloween game continues development, featuring a newly revealed Haddonfield Heights map
  • That title is currently scheduled to release on September 8, 2026, aligning closely with Michael Myers transitioning fully into his own dedicated game

End of an Era for Dead by Daylight

Michael Myers has been a defining presence in Dead by Daylight since the game’s early years, helping establish licensed killers as a core pillar of its identity. While the chapter’s removal signals the end of an era, existing players won’t lose access—and newcomers still have time to secure the content before it disappears.

January 2026 will close the door on the Halloween Chapter, but its legacy in the Fog is set to remain.
