Pilestedt describes the new project as being at the very start of its journey. This phase—assembling a core team, breaking boundaries, and shaping the creative identity behind the game—is one he considers the most exciting. The studio is currently exploring foundational concepts rather than preparing for a reveal, meaning players should expect a long road ahead before official details surface.
Helldivers 2’s Ongoing Momentum
Following Helldivers 2, Arrowhead shifted from a mid-sized developer to a studio managing a major live-service title. Despite various controversies during its lifecycle, the game continues to perform strongly and maintains a large, active player base. That momentum appears to give Arrowhead breathing room as they craft their next experience without rushing into a release cycle.
No Immediate Plans for Helldivers 3
As of September 2025, the studio has no plans for a third Helldivers entry. Instead, ongoing updates and community support for Helldivers 2 may extend the game’s lifespan for years, filling the gap where a numbered sequel might have appeared.
Balancing Identity and Evolution
