The world of Palia welcomes its coziest season yet with the arrival of Patch 0.195. This update introduces Ranching as the game’s first new skill since launch, alongside the debut of the Alchemist’s Cottage home line, fresh friendship quests, seasonal County Fair events, and a wealth of new customization options. With autumn colors painting Kilima and barns filling with life, players can look forward to an update filled with charm and long-term progression.
Ranching: A Brand-New Skill
Animal Husbandry makes its debut as Ranching, a skill built around caring for animals, collecting their resources, and even breeding them for unique traits. Players begin their ranching journey by completing the quest “Like a Bird”, after which Delaila introduces the Barn Bell, unlocking access to the ranch.
At the ranch, animals such as Pekis, Trufflets, Ormuus, and Bumbles can be raised from baby to adult. Each requires regular feeding, petting, and attention, with their Happiness and Focus determining productivity. Adult animals produce items like eggs, milk, mushrooms, and honey, while also offering breeding opportunities to pass down or unlock traits.
Ranching comes with a full progression track up to level 10, offering unlocks such as animal storage upgrades, new animals, and special treats. Players can also earn weekly Skill Challenges and Medals once they reach the skill cap, adding an ongoing reason to care for their flocks and herds.
Alchemist’s Cottage: Home Lines Begin
Patch 0.195 introduces Home Lines, a major evolution to Palia’s housing system. The first, the Alchemist’s Cottage, gives players modular and multi-level building options. Features include stackable rooms, indoor stairs, customizable walls, lofts, and even outdoor patios.
Players who reach Furniture Making Level 10 can purchase the Alchemist’s Cottage from the City Hall Store. With multiple prefabs and add-ons, this housing line provides a mix of fairytale charm and flexibility. Future updates promise even more customization and new Home Lines, making this system one of the most anticipated long-term features.
The Gardener Friendship Quests
A new friendship storyline blossoms with the Gardener, a mysterious figure tied to the Earth Temple. After completing the temple questline, players can befriend him, unlock quests, and even invite him to live on their housing plot. The storyline explores his bond with the Flow Network and Einar, with unique rewards awaiting those who complete it.
County Fair Quests and Seasonal Events
The Bahari Province Faire arrives on the Bulletin Board with County Fair quests, where players help Badruu’s family outshine their rivals. Tasks revolve around Ranching skills, and completing them unlocks exclusive rewards such as the Rancher’s Decor Recipe Starter Pack.
Meanwhile, autumn settles across Kilima with seasonal decorations and updates. The Spooky Moon Store is set to arrive in the next patch, continuing the festive spirit.
Daily Quests and Tailor Tickets
Patch 0.195 also expands Palia’s questing and customization systems. Over 200 new daily quests provide small tasks that reward Tailor Tickets, a new currency used to unlock hair and makeup colors. Players can explore more than 3,000 shades across 12 in-game style brands, with a color picker tool and expanded base options ensuring maximum personalization.
Rancher’s Decor and Plush Additions
The new Rancher’s Decor set brings rustic flair to housing plots with hay piles, milk jugs, apple bags, and more. These recipes can be unlocked through the County Fair bundle board, adding autumn charm to homes.
In addition, plush collectors will be delighted with the arrival of the Duskwing Butterfly Plush, an XL Shark Fin Plush, and 10 new Shiny Potato Pod plushes—quirky companions that brighten any corner of a player’s home.
Improvements and Quality of Life
Several adjustments round out the patch:
- Currency Tab: A new inventory subtab organizes all currencies, including Skill Medals and Infected Essence.
- Plush Celebration: Finding plushes now comes with celebratory notifications.
- Bundle Pull Back: Items submitted to bundles can be reclaimed if the sub-bundle isn’t completed.
Looking Ahead
This patch marks Palia’s first new skill since launch, with Ranching designed for future expansion. More animals, multiplayer support, and greater organizational tools are already planned. Combined with the arrival of Home Lines and seasonal content, Patch 0.195 feels like a milestone moment for the cozy MMO.
Players can now step into autumn with barns full of animals, fairytale cottages, and a wave of new customization—making Kilima feel more alive than ever.
