Nintendo has confirmed that Forsaken 64, a classic first-person shooter from Acclaim Entertainment, will be added to the Nintendo 64: Nintendo Classics Mature 17+ app on September 4. The release will expand the app’s limited lineup of M-rated titles, bringing the total to five. Access requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership with the Expansion Pack upgrade.
A Classic Shooter Returns
Originally debuting on PC in April 1998, Forsaken quickly made its way to the Nintendo 64 in May of the same year. Known for its high-speed action and unique vehicle combat, the game puts players in control of a mercenary riding a hoverbike through a post-apocalyptic Earth overrun by hostile machines. Featuring both single-player missions and four-player split-screen multiplayer, Forsaken 64 earned recognition as one of the standout FPS experiences on the N64.
In July 2018, NightDive Studios—now a subsidiary of Atari—released a remastered version for PC and Xbox One. With NightDive currently holding the rights, they are also credited with bringing the game to Nintendo Switch Online.
Launch Details
Forsaken 64 will arrive on the Mature 17+ app on Thursday, September 4, at approximately 9:00 PM Eastern. Unlike the standard N64 app, the Mature 17+ version must be downloaded separately and is only available to subscribers with the Expansion Pack upgrade.
Nintendo has also released a short trailer showcasing both campaign and multiplayer gameplay, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect when the game launches.
The last update to the Mature 17+ app came in October 2024, when Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil were added. With Forsaken 64 joining the library, players will have another reason to revisit Nintendo’s darker side of N64 history.
