The Sims 4 Surprise Update Drops with 12 Free Items in Pride-Themed Celebration

EA has just dropped a surprise free update for The Sims 4, giving players 12 brand-new items to decorate, customize, and style their Sims—all without spending a single Simoleon. The update, released on April 2, adds a colorful collection of clothing, tattoos, face paint, and home décor with a clear Pride-inspired flair.

Among the highlights are a checkered button-up shirt, denim shorts, Pride-themed knee socks, Converse-style sneakers, and a vibrant set of wall art and bedspreads. Face paint and tattoo options also received a refresh, letting players further personalize their Sims in time for the game’s 25th anniversary year.

What’s New in the April 2 Update:

  • Checkered button-up shirt
  • Jean shorts
  • Pride-themed knee socks
  • Converse-style sneakers
  • Colorful wall art
  • Pride-inspired bedspreads
  • New face paint designs
  • Fresh tattoos

And yes—these additions are part of the base game, meaning every player gets them, no matter which DLCs they own.

2025 Roadmap and What’s Next

EA and Maxis aren’t slowing down. Following confirmation that The Sims 5 is still not on the immediate horizon, the team is doubling down on The Sims 4 with even more updates coming throughout the year. May will bring three new kits—Restoration Workshop, Golden Years, and Kitchen Clutter—further expanding the customization and storytelling options available.

Staying Ahead of the Competition

The timing couldn’t be better. With InZOI, a new contender in the life-sim genre, having just entered Early Access, EA seems intent on solidifying The Sims 4 as the genre leader. In a classy move, EA even congratulated InZOI on its launch—while simultaneously pushing forward with new content releases to maintain the crown.

Whether you’re a longtime Simmer or just jumping in, 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most content-rich years The Sims 4 has seen in a long time.

Stay tuned—more surprise updates could be just around the corner.
