Call of Duty: Warzone players are currently facing a temporary server shutdown — but unlike previous connection issues, this downtime is intentional, and it comes with some major rewards.
Starting April 2, 2025, Activision has officially taken Call of Duty: Warzone servers offline ahead of the highly anticipated Season 3 update, marking only the second time in the game’s history that players have had to wait out a global countdown before jumping back in. However, the reason behind the wait is worth the pause — the iconic Verdansk map is finally making its long-awaited return.
Verdansk Returns After Nearly Four Years
Originally launched in March 2020, Verdansk was the first battle royale map in Warzone and quickly became a fan favorite. Now, nearly four years later, it’s being brought back with improvements, nostalgia, and a full-on celebration of Warzone’s roots. The servers will remain down until April 3, 2025, at 9 AM PT, when the countdown concludes and the action resumes.
Just like the early days of Warzone, this relaunch is being teased with a global countdown timer displayed in the COD HQ menu. Players currently can’t access Warzone but are encouraged to visit the menu to prepare — and doing so comes with a reward.
Free Kilo 141 Giveaway During Downtime
Any player who checks into Warzone from the COD HQ interface during the downtime will automatically receive the legendary Kilo 141 Assault Rifle for free. This weapon, originally featured in Modern Warfare (2019), was a powerhouse in the original Warzone meta and is now returning to dominate Verdansk once again.
That’s not all — Season 3 is packed with returning content from the classic Warzone era, including:
- Operators like Roze
- HDR Sniper Rifle
- CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifle
- Classic Gulag Showers
- Nostalgic Contract systems and audio cues
Whether you’re a veteran of Verdansk or preparing for your first drop into the legendary map, the update promises a blend of nostalgia and refinement.
Double XP and Season 3 Content Still Live in Black Ops 6
While Warzone fans await server reactivation, they can still dive into Season 3 content through Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies. New weapons, attachments, and Operator skins can be unlocked early — and with Double XP active, it’s the perfect time to prepare your loadouts and get a head start on leveling.
Verdansk is Coming Back — and It’s Almost Time to Drop In
The extended downtime may feel like a long 24 hours, but when the servers go live, players will be rewarded with more than just a map. They’ll be part of one of Warzone’s biggest comebacks in history. So gear up, level your arsenal, and get ready to relive the golden age of battle royale when Verdansk returns on April 3.
