Trainers can harness new effects to enhance Pokémon encounters during Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global.
Pokémon GO is set to introduce Adventure Effects for Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, offering unique gameplay advantages during their official debut at Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global. This follows the legendary Pokémon’s first appearance at the in-person Pokémon GO Tour events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles from February 21 to 23.
The global portion of Pokémon GO Tour: Unova takes place on March 1 and 2, 2025, where players worldwide will finally be able to fuse Kyurem with Zekrom or Kyurem with Reshiram to obtain their Black Kyurem and White Kyurem forms. With these fusions come the newly introduced Adventure Effects, which can significantly impact Pokémon encounters.
Black Kyurem and White Kyurem’s Adventure Effects Explained
Niantic has confirmed that players who attended Pokémon GO Tour: Unova’s in-person events will gain early access to Adventure Effects during the ongoing Road to Unova event. These special effects can be activated by spending 5,000 Stardust and 5 Kyurem Candy, providing powerful temporary abilities:
- Black Kyurem’s Adventure Effect – Electrically Charged Ice:
After fusing Zekrom with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, trainers will obtain Black Kyurem with Freeze Shock as its exclusive Charged Attack. Activating its Adventure Effect releases electrically charged ice for 10 minutes, paralyzing Pokémon in the wild and making them easier to catch. If the fusion is undone, Freeze Shock will revert to Glaciate. - White Kyurem’s Adventure Effect – Chilling Energy:
Players who fuse Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate will obtain White Kyurem with Ice Burn as its exclusive Charged Attack. When its Adventure Effect is activated, encounter target rings slow down for 10 minutes, making it easier to land excellent throws. As with Black Kyurem, undoing the fusion will revert Ice Burn to Glaciate.
Extending Adventure Effect Duration in Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global
During the global portion of Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, trainers will have the option to extend the duration of Adventure Effects using the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Tour Pass. By reaching key milestones, players can increase the duration of Adventure Effects at different tiers:
- Tier 2: 1.5x duration
- Tier 3: 2x duration
- Tier 4: 3x duration
In addition to extending these effects, players can unlock extra rewards, improve event bonuses, and increase their rank.
