MindsEye Confirmed for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC Release This Summer

Build A Rocket Boy’s upcoming action-adventure game MindsEye has been confirmed for release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC this summer. The game, helmed by Grand Theft Auto 5 veteran Leslie Benzies, received a significant showcase at the February PlayStation State of Play, revealing an extended trailer packed with action, driving, and a near-future dystopian aesthetic.

A Story of AI, Greed, and Memory

MindsEye follows Jacob Diaz, a former soldier implanted with a mysterious neural device known as The MindsEye, which torments him with fragmented memories of a covert mission that altered his life. Set in the fictional city of Redrock, the game explores the collision of AI and human ambition, painting a dire picture of a world on the brink of collapse. Benzies describes MindsEye as an intense action-adventure experience where every decision impacts survival.

Explosive Combat and High-Octane Driving

The latest showcase emphasized MindsEye’s dynamic gameplay, featuring cinematic shootouts and thrilling vehicular sequences reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto series. However, the game introduces more strategic combat elements, with a focus on advanced technology and gadgetry.

Dan Bulteel, the studio’s Community and Creator VP, highlighted MindsEye’s tactical approach to combat, distinguishing it from traditional action games. The gameplay footage also showcased combat on foot, in vehicles, and even in aerial encounters, hinting at a broad scope of gameplay variety.

A Futuristic World with Cyberpunk Influences

With its near-future setting and advanced technology, MindsEye carries clear Cyberpunk 2077 influences while maintaining its own unique identity. The urban sprawl of Redrock, coupled with an emphasis on AI-driven conflict, sets the stage for an engaging sci-fi narrative.

A Busy Year for Open-World Games

2025 is shaping up to be a monumental year for open-world action games, with MindsEye launching alongside Grand Theft Auto 6. Despite its open-world elements, MindsEye is positioned more as a narrative-driven action-adventure, with the developers focusing on storytelling rather than direct comparisons to open-world giants.

Beyond MindsEye, Build A Rocket Boy is also working on Everywhere, an ambitious open-world entertainment platform, and Arcadia, a suite of AAA user-generated content design tools. While these projects continue development, all eyes are now on MindsEye as it gears up for its multi-platform release later this year.
