Riot Games Rallies Support Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

As the devastating Los Angeles wildfires continue to rage, displacing thousands and destroying homes, Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends and Valorant, has turned its Santa Monica headquarters into a hub of support for the local community.

Since the fires began, Riot has closed its offices, located near the heavily affected Palisades neighborhood. Despite the closures, the company has found meaningful ways to contribute.

Supporting Emergency Responders

In the early days of the crisis, Riot provided a backup generator to a fire station that lost power, ensuring uninterrupted operations for firefighters. The developer also donated 400 meals from its cafeteria to first responders. Looking forward, Riot plans to leverage its campus and resources to support the community’s recovery efforts.

Riot CEO Dylan Jadeja emphasized the company’s commitment, stating, “We intend to stand up for Los Angeles and give back however we can.”

Aid for Employees and Charitable Donations

Riot has taken significant steps to support its employees affected by the fires, offering temporary housing, emergency stipends, and advisory services to those displaced or who lost homes. Beyond this, the company has pledged donations to the California Fire Foundation and International Medical Corps, while tripling employee contributions to firefighting and relief organizations.

In-Game Fundraisers for Wildfire Relief

Riot will also harness its popular games to raise funds for recovery efforts:

  • Valorant: From January 22–30, the EX.O Collection will be transformed into a Give Back Bundle, with proceeds going to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.
  • League of Legends: Starting January 23 until February 5, players can purchase the Firefighter Tristana skin, with all proceeds benefiting the same fund.

Strengthening Global Commitment

Riot’s blog post highlighted the broader mission: “Recovery doesn’t end when the fires are extinguished. Rebuilding communities takes time, and this crisis—so close to home for our headquarters—has inspired us to strengthen our commitment to natural disaster relief and prevention globally.”

Whether through direct aid, charitable donations, or in-game fundraisers, Riot Games continues to demonstrate its dedication to supporting communities in crisis.

Other Relief Efforts

Independent developer Necrosoft is also organizing a California Fire Relief Bundle on itch.io, providing gamers another way to contribute to the ongoing relief efforts.
