Treyarch Reverses Zombies Directed Mode Changes After Player Feedback in Black Ops 6 Update

Treyarch has addressed player concerns by reversing the controversial Zombies Directed Mode changes introduced in the January 3 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update. The reversal, alongside other improvements, aims to enhance the overall player experience.

Community Backlash on Directed Mode Changes

The January 3 update implemented a significant adjustment to Zombies Directed Mode on the Citadelle des Morts map. This included extending the time between rounds and introducing a delay for zombie spawns after five looped rounds on Round 15. These changes sparked widespread frustration among players, particularly those relying on Directed Mode for farming kills and completing camo challenges. Concerns also arose about potential future changes to XP gains and rewards in Directed Mode.

Acknowledging the outcry, Treyarch acted swiftly to address these issues.

January 9 Update: Reverting Directed Mode Changes

In the latest update on January 9, Treyarch confirmed the removal of the Directed Mode spawn delay changes. The zombie spawn delay is now capped at 20 seconds, even after five looped rounds. Developers emphasized their commitment to maintaining the fun and rewarding aspects of Zombies.

Additionally, several fixes were implemented to improve Directed Mode on the Citadelle des Morts map:

  • Resolved glitches and bugs tied to stamp progression, ensuring smoother main quest completion.
  • Fixed visual effect glitches and crashes linked to the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud.

These adjustments aim to restore player satisfaction and minimize disruptions.

Shadow Rift Ammo Mod Buffs

The update also introduced significant buffs to the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod:

  • Increased activation rates for normal enemies (20%) and special enemies (7%).
  • Enhanced elite enemy activation rate to 7% with Big Game Augment equipped.
  • Reduced cooldown rates by 25%.

These changes position Shadow Rift as a more viable and powerful choice in Black Ops 6’s arsenal.

Looking Ahead: Season 2 and Upcoming Updates

Season 2 of Black Ops 6 is set to launch on January 28, bringing additional content and updates. Treyarch has promised further bug fixes and gameplay adjustments to accompany the new season.

Players still have time to complete the Citadelle des Morts main quest and earn Season 1 Reloaded rewards before the transition.
