PlayStation Fans Get a Free Online Multiplayer Weekend to Celebrate 30 Years of Gaming

PlayStation is marking its 30th anniversary with a special treat for gamers: a free online multiplayer weekend, running from December 6 to December 8. This celebratory event allows anyone with a PlayStation Network (PSN) account and a stable internet connection to enjoy online multiplayer gaming on their PlayStation 4 or 5 without needing a PlayStation Plus subscription.

What’s Included in the Free Weekend?

The free weekend focuses on online multiplayer gaming, providing players the opportunity to experience the online capabilities of PlayStation titles they already own. While it doesn’t include access to PlayStation Plus-exclusive game catalogs, it’s an ideal way for newcomers to explore the benefits of multiplayer gaming.

eSports Tournament and Prizes

PlayStation is also hosting an eSports tournament during the same weekend, featuring games like:

  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Tekken 8
  • Madden NFL 25
  • Guilty Gear Strive

Participants have the chance to win in-game rewards and exclusive avatars depending on the game they play. This adds an extra layer of excitement to the anniversary celebration.

Win a 30-Month PlayStation Plus Membership

Sony isn’t stopping with the free weekend. From December 10 to December 23, PlayStation fans can enter a sweepstakes to win a 30-month PlayStation Plus membership. A total of 780 winners (30 per participating country) will be chosen.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Sign up for a PlayStation Plus Premium membership (new members) or log into your existing account.
  2. Play any game from the Classics Catalog during the sweepstakes period.

Why Now Is the Perfect Time for PlayStation

As the holidays approach, many new players will be unwrapping their first PS5 and exploring everything the platform has to offer. The free weekend and anniversary celebrations give these players a chance to dive into multiplayer gaming and join a growing community of online gamers.

Whether you’re a long-time PlayStation fan or a newcomer, the 30th anniversary events provide plenty of reasons to celebrate gaming history with Sony this December.
