Step 1: Reach Fishing Level 7
To start, you’ll need to reach Fishing Level 7. Fishing is essential in Palia, and this level unlocks the ability to create a Glow Worm Farm, which is critical to getting the Sushi recipe.
- Catch Fish Consistently: Fish regularly at various locations to level up quickly.
- Use High-Quality Bait: As you progress, better bait can help catch more valuable fish, which can give more XP.
Step 2: Purchase the Glow Worm Farm Recipe
Once at Fishing Level 7, head to Einar at the Fishing Guild. He sells the Glow Worm Farm recipe for 2,000 Gold. Be sure to have enough currency ready to make this purchase.
Step 3: Gather Materials to Build the Glow Worm Farm
With the recipe purchased, you’ll need to gather materials to construct the Glow Worm Farm. Here’s what’s required:
- 12 Flow-Infused Planks: Gather wood and process it to create these planks.
- 8 Stone Bricks: Mine stone and use a crafting station to make bricks.
- 3 Iron Bars: Smelt iron ore to craft these bars.
- 6 Leather: Hunt wildlife or complete quests to obtain leather.
Once you have all the materials, assemble the Glow Worm Farm.
Step 4: Produce Glow Worms
Glow Worms are used as bait to catch the Sushi recipe. To produce them, place food items into the Glow Worm Farm. Recommended items for efficient Glow Worm production include:
- Bok Choy
- Blueberries
- Apples
- Chapaa Meat
The Glow Worm Farm will turn these items into Glow Worms, which you’ll use to increase your chances of catching the Sushi recipe.
Step 5: Fish in Specific Ponds Using Glow Worms
Now that you have Glow Worms, head to one of the following ponds for the best chance of finding the Sushi recipe:
- Pond behind Barduu’s Farm
- Pond near Hodari’s House
Equip the Glow Worms as bait and start fishing in these ponds. The Sushi recipe is a rare find, so it may take multiple attempts to obtain it. Patience is key here.
Step 6: Obtain and Use the Sushi Recipe
Once you’ve fished up the Sushi recipe, it will be added to your recipes. You can now create Sushi, which may be necessary for completing the Vault of Waves quest.

- Maximize Your Fishing Attempts: If possible, bring extra Glow Worms to avoid multiple trips back to your Glow Worm Farm.
- Time of Day Doesn’t Affect Recipe Chance: There is no specific time for fishing up the Sushi recipe, so feel free to fish whenever.
