Brighter Shores, the highly anticipated MMO from RuneScape creators Andrew and Paul Gower, has seen a slight delay in its early access launch. Originally slated to release on November 5, the game will now go live one day later, on November 6. While a 24-hour postponement may not seem like much, the reason behind it has sparked some amusement.
“We have decided to push the launch of Brighter Shores back to the 6th Nov, because apparently there is some sort of election thingy on the 5th,” Andrew Gower quipped on X (formerly Twitter). “Who knew?!”
Well, Andrew, it seems the answer is… everyone! From news broadcasts to social media, the upcoming U.S. election has been hard to miss, even for those outside the country. However, it seems Gower, deeply immersed in the development of his game, didn’t have his sights set on current events—understandable when you’re building a world of your own.
Brighter Shores has been in development for a decade, and like its predecessor RuneScape, it promises to offer more than just combat. Alongside fighting, players will be able to choose from a wide range of professions, including fishing, foraging, cooking, woodcutting, mining, alchemy, blacksmithing, and more.
Although the game’s early access will be missing some key features, such as PvP combat, the content available at launch will still provide hundreds of hours of gameplay. The Steam page assures players that the game is “fully playable” and will not undergo any save resets once it exits early access.
Even after its full release, Brighter Shores is set to receive regular updates with new episodes, quests, and professions, ensuring the game will continue to grow long after launch. As the developers put it, “This isn’t a game we ever expect to be ‘finished’.”
So, while U.S. voters are busy casting their ballots, MMO enthusiasts can rest easy knowing that their adventure will begin just one day later—on November 6. Mark your calendars accordingly!
