Radsz – Echoes of Cobalt Isle – News & updates

Hello Rust Survivors and Friends,

Noize here with some exciting updates, as well as a few challenges we’re working through. Before diving into the details, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who’s still with us. It’s been a challenging road, but we’re almost at the end of it, and your support has made all the difference!

Server Transition: A New Beginning

As many of you are aware, we’ve been hosting our Rust server through Fragify. After some careful consideration and a few hiccups with the old setup, we decided it was time for an upgrade. Last weekend, we said our goodbyes to the old server and proudly introduced a brand-new one into our community.

What’s New?

  • Enhanced Performance: The new server comes with improved hardware, which means faster load times, better stability, and a smoother gameplay experience overall.
  • Advanced Tools: I now have access to a suite of new tools that make managing the server much easier. From better monitoring to more efficient configuration, these tools will help ensure that your time on the server is as enjoyable as possible.

Custom Map: The Journey So Far

We’ve been working around the clock to bring you a custom map that’s packed with the features and challenges you’ve been asking for. Here’s where we stand:

Good News:

  • Successful Map Launch: The custom map is now live, and I’m happy to report that loading into the map is quick and hassle-free. On average, it only takes about three minutes to join a session, and best of all, our server is now easily found in the search results. This is a significant improvement over our old server, where many players struggled to locate us in the server listings.

Bad News:

  • NPC Spawner Issues: Unfortunately, the custom NPC spawners I placed aren’t working as expected. The BetterNPC mod is overriding my settings and replacing the spawners with its own configurations. I should have seen this coming, given past experiences with this mod, but it’s still disappointing.
  • Lighting Problems: Approximately 80% of the lights that were placed on the map aren’t functioning. This has created some darker areas than intended, which I’m actively working to fix.
  • Puzzle Door Glitches: Two puzzle doors are currently wide open, despite being intended to be locked. One of these puzzles involves a paid monument, and because I’m not familiar with the monument creator’s electrical wiring setup, I’ll need to remove and replace the monument manually. Unfortunately, this process is more complicated and time-consuming than it might seem.

What’s Next: The Road Ahead

Given these challenges, and with my upcoming move to a new house, I’m going to need to postpone the necessary fixes and updates for about a month. I know this delay might be frustrating, and I want to assure you that I’m doing everything I can to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Current Priorities:

  1. Fixing the NPC Spawners: I’ll be working on reconfiguring the spawners to ensure they function correctly without interference from the BetterNPC mod.
  2. Restoring the Lighting: I’ll address the lighting issues to brighten up the map as originally intended.
  3. Repairing Puzzle Doors: I’ll work on fixing the puzzle doors, particularly the one involving the paid monument, to restore their intended functionality.

Sneak Peek: What’s in the Works

While I work on these fixes, I’m excited to give you all a sneak peek at the upcoming map ( see on our discord ). Please note that the map is still in development, so some elements may change before the final release.

Upcoming Features:

  • New Landmarks: Expect to see new and unique landmarks that will add more depth and exploration opportunities to the map.
  • Enhanced Loot Areas: We’re expanding the loot areas to offer better rewards and more strategic gameplay.
  • Dynamic Events: Prepare for new dynamic events that will challenge your survival skills and keep the gameplay fresh.

Thank You for Your Patience

I want to thank each of you for your continued support and understanding as we work through these challenges. Your feedback and enthusiasm drive us to make this server the best it can be, and I’m confident that the upcoming updates will enhance your experience even further.

Stay tuned for more updates, and I look forward to seeing you all on the server soon!
