Satisfactory Finally Adds Crossplay Between PC, PS5, and Xbox in Major Anniversary Update

Satisfactory has reached another major milestone. To celebrate the first anniversary of its console release, developer Coffee Stain Studios has introduced full crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The latest update allows players across Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S to build factories and explore the world together. Alongside crossplay, the patch introduces improvements to vehicle automation, multiplayer stability, and several gameplay systems.

However, one important limitation remains. Dedicated servers are still restricted to PC and cannot currently be used for crossplay sessions.

Satisfactory Crossplay Finally Connects PC and Console Players

Crossplay is undoubtedly the biggest addition to this anniversary update. Previously, players were restricted by platform compatibility when organizing multiplayer sessions.

With the new system, PC and console players can finally collaborate on massive factories without needing to own the same hardware.

Crossplay uses Epic Online Services, meaning players must have a free Epic Games account to access cross-platform multiplayer and manage their cross-platform friends.

This requirement also applies to Steam users who want to play with friends on consoles.

For a game built around cooperation, automation, and increasingly complicated production lines, crossplay represents a significant improvement.

Players can now invite friends from different platforms to expand factories, optimize production, and explore the alien environment together.

Dedicated Servers Remain Restricted to PC

Although crossplay is now supported, dedicated servers remain a notable exception.

Coffee Stain Studios confirmed that dedicated servers are currently available only on PC. Consequently, players cannot use them to host crossplay sessions involving consoles.

This limitation could disappoint communities that depend on persistent multiplayer worlds.

Dedicated servers allow factories to remain accessible without requiring an individual player to host an active session. They are particularly useful for larger communities where members play at different times.

For now, cross-platform groups must rely on supported multiplayer hosting instead.

The developer has not announced when, or whether, dedicated servers will become compatible with console crossplay.

Coffee Stain Studios Announces Dedicated Server Hosting Partnership

Alongside the anniversary update, Coffee Stain Studios announced a partnership with dedicated server hosting provider Indifferent Broccoli.

The partnership follows the hosting company’s involvement with community-driven Coffee Cup Studios events.

PC players can now find information about the hosting service directly through the Server Manager menu.

A new Rent a Server option provides access to the company’s hosting services.

The update also fixes an issue where the Server Manager failed to display save download progress correctly.

Although this partnership gives PC players another hosting option, it does not change the current restrictions surrounding crossplay and dedicated servers.

Satisfactory Introduces New Telemetry Privacy Options

The update also overhauls Satisfactory’s internal telemetry system.

Telemetry allows developers to collect gameplay information that helps identify technical problems, investigate bugs, and understand how players interact with different systems.

Following the overhaul, players will encounter a one-time popup when launching the updated game.

This popup allows them to choose whether they want to share gameplay data with the developer.

Players can change their decision later through the Gameplay section of the Options menu.

Two settings have been introduced: Send Gameplay Data and Telemetry ID.

These changes provide players with more direct control over their participation in gameplay data collection.

Multiplayer Stability Receives Important Fixes

Crossplay is not the only multiplayer-related improvement.

Coffee Stain Studios has introduced potential fixes for problems that prevented players from joining particularly large save files.

Large factories can become increasingly demanding as production lines, transportation networks, and automated systems expand.

Unfortunately, some multiplayer sessions have experienced connection problems when loading these complicated worlds.

The developer acknowledges that certain issues remain unresolved. Nevertheless, the latest fixes should improve accessibility for some affected players.

Several crashes have also been addressed, including problems involving dedicated server drone navigation, the Blueprint Designer, and vehicle inventory interfaces.

Additional fixes target crashes caused by invalid blueprints, camera transitions, and unusually large item quantities entered in Creative Mode.

Automated Vehicles Receive Major Improvements

Vehicle automation has received several important adjustments.

Previously, automated vehicles could encounter problems when following routes shared with other vehicles.

In some situations, vehicles would move unusually slowly behind traffic or incorrectly reserve sections of a route.

The update adjusts autopilot behavior to reduce these problems.

It also addresses situations where vehicles intersecting multiple paths could unexpectedly teleport between routes.

Automated vehicles getting stuck inside Truck Stations should also occur less frequently following the update.

Furthermore, the developer corrected vehicle path snapping and placement problems that could interfere with transportation networks.

These improvements should make automated logistics more reliable, especially in factories that depend heavily on trucks and other vehicles.

Factory Building and Interface Improvements

Several smaller changes aim to make factory construction and management more convenient.

Radar Towers and Priority Power Switches now support daisy chaining, providing additional flexibility when connecting electrical systems.

Stackable supports for conveyors, pipelines, and Hypertubes can once again rotate in 45-degree increments when placed on foundations.

The update also corrects an issue where certain structures incorrectly displayed an unavailable zoop building mode.

Meanwhile, the interface receives numerous improvements.

Map markers now correctly save edited names without requiring players to press Enter. The map also remembers its previous zoom level instead of resetting whenever it opens.

Other fixes address overlapping research tooltips, Blueprint Designer text fields, conveyor holograms, and menu navigation.

Controller users on PC can also edit Blueprint subcategory names again.

Additionally, improvements to key rebinding allow overlapping controls to update more consistently when players assign new inputs.

Graphics, Weather, and World Fixes

The anniversary patch includes several technical improvements affecting graphics and environmental systems.

Players using certain AMD graphics cards should experience fewer flashing or flickering artifacts when Frame Generation or Motion Blur is enabled.

Rain rendering has also been improved, including a fix for weather effects failing to display correctly while driving vehicles.

New save files now delay rain for one in-game day. This prevents weather-related ADA dialogue from interrupting the introductory sequence.

Several environmental issues have also been corrected.

Water in parts of the Rocky Desert is now deep enough to support Water Extractors. Other fixes address missing water volumes, terrain gaps, and locations where players could accidentally fall through the world.

The update also resolves missing Nuclear Reactor sounds, several texture problems, and localization issues affecting menu elements.

A Major Step Forward for Satisfactory Multiplayer

The introduction of crossplay is an important milestone for Satisfactory.

By connecting Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S players, Coffee Stain Studios removes one of the biggest barriers to playing with friends across different platforms.

The remaining dedicated server restriction is disappointing, particularly for established communities that prefer persistent multiplayer environments.

Nevertheless, the combination of crossplay, vehicle automation improvements, crash fixes, and interface adjustments makes this a substantial anniversary update.

Coffee Stain Studios has also confirmed that additional fixes are being developed, suggesting further improvements are planned.

For players who have been waiting to build factories with friends on different platforms, the wait is finally over.
