GamingHQ Leaves Ko-fi After Fraudulent Impersonation Page Remains Online

GamingHQ has officially decided to leave Ko-fi and move its community support platform to Patreon. This decision follows Ko-fi’s failure to remove a fraudulent page impersonating GamingHQ, despite our concerns.

The situation is particularly troubling because details associated with this fake page appear to match information connected to an earlier impersonation scheme involving suspicious Xbox messages and a potentially malicious Discord server.

For GamingHQ, protecting our community comes first. We cannot continue supporting a platform when we have lost confidence in its handling of impersonation reports.

A Fake GamingHQ Page on Ko-fi

A fraudulent Ko-fi page was created using the GamingHQ name, potentially misleading visitors into believing they were supporting our legitimate community.

This page was not created, authorized, or operated by GamingHQ.

After discovering the impersonation, we reported the situation to Ko-fi. However, the fraudulent page has not been taken offline.

What makes this particularly concerning is that we have encountered details associated with this impersonation before.

Connections to Earlier Xbox and Discord Scams

Some time ago, Xbox users were reportedly receiving unsolicited messages from suspicious accounts.

These messages ranged from casual conversations to sexually suggestive invitations. Their apparent purpose was to lure unsuspecting users into joining a Discord server.

That server was allegedly connected to a malicious bot designed to collect or steal personal information.

Details associated with those earlier activities appear to match information found on the fraudulent Ko-fi page impersonating GamingHQ.

Although these similarities raise serious concerns, we cannot independently confirm that the same individuals operated both schemes.

Nevertheless, the possibility of our community’s identity being associated with suspicious activities is something we take extremely seriously.

Why We Have Lost Confidence in Ko-fi

We understand that online platforms receive numerous reports and must investigate potential violations carefully.

However, impersonation involving a recognizable community name should receive appropriate attention, especially when there are concerns about possible fraudulent activities.

Despite reporting the fake GamingHQ page, Ko-fi has not removed it.

We find this response unacceptable.

GamingHQ has spent years building its community and reputation. We refuse to let someone exploit that work to mislead unsuspecting users.

If a platform cannot adequately address our concerns about impersonation, we see no reason to continue using its services.

Therefore, our decision is final.

GamingHQ Officially Moves to Patreon

We are pleased to announce that GamingHQ has officially joined Patreon!

Patreon will become our new platform for voluntary community contributions and memberships.

Supporters will have access to several membership options, with additional benefits offered as a thank-you for their contributions.

These benefits may include exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes information, early announcements, and other community-related perks.

However, we want to emphasize something important.

GamingHQ will not place its regular gaming news, reviews, or guides behind a mandatory membership.

Our website will remain accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they financially support us.

A Warning to Our Community

We strongly encourage everyone to remain cautious when encountering accounts or pages claiming to represent GamingHQ.

Please remember:

  • GamingHQ does not send unsolicited sexual invitations through Xbox messages.
  • We do not operate Discord bots designed to collect passwords, account credentials, or other sensitive information.
  • Any unofficial page requesting financial contributions under our name should be treated with suspicion.
  • Never share personal information or account credentials with suspicious Discord bots.
  • Report accounts impersonating GamingHQ rather than interacting with them.

If you encounter a suspicious page, message, or Discord server using our name, please inform our team.

Thank You for Supporting GamingHQ

Moving away from Ko-fi was not a decision we originally intended to make. However, maintaining our community’s trust is far more important than remaining loyal to a particular service.

We appreciate everyone who has supported GamingHQ throughout the years.

Whether you join our Patreon, share our articles, participate in our community, or simply visit our website, your support helps keep GamingHQ moving forward.

Thank you for supporting GamingHQ. We look forward to building our next chapter together on Patreon!
