Final Fantasy XIV fans have another collectible to add to their shelves, with Square Enix opening pre-orders for a new music box based on one of the MMORPG’s soundtrack pieces.
The Final Fantasy XIV Music Box: Bygone Serenity is expected to release in May 2027. It features an 18-note mechanism that plays “Bygone Serenity,” accompanied by a design inspired by Sphene’s tiara.
Priced at £24.99 / $28.99, the music box is already available to pre-order.

According to the company, designs used for these music boxes are inspired by the scenes and characters associated with their respective songs. In this case, the silhouette of Sphene’s tiara forms one of the most recognizable elements of the design.

Music has always been an important part of Final Fantasy, and Square Enix has increasingly turned its enormous soundtrack library into physical merchandise.
The Bygone Serenity music box is not alone. Other Final Fantasy titles are receiving similar products, including Final Fantasy IX: Roses of May, while official vinyl releases continue to give collectors another way to own music from across the franchise.
Final Fantasy XIV is particularly well suited to this treatment.

A Realm Reborn established the foundation for years of expansions and updates, allowing Final Fantasy XIV to grow into one of Square Enix’s most important ongoing games.

2027 Could Be Another Huge Year for Final Fantasy XIV
The May 2027 release of the Bygone Serenity music box also places it in what is shaping up to be an important period for Final Fantasy XIV.
The next major expansion, Evercold, is currently planned for January 2027.
Evercold will begin the Godless Realms Saga, starting another major chapter for the MMORPG while increasing the level cap to 110.
That means players should already have plenty of new content to explore by the time the Bygone Serenity music box begins shipping several months later.
Final Fantasy XIV has also recently expanded its platform availability with its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2, potentially introducing another audience to the MMORPG.
