Cyberpunk 2077 is preparing to expand onto yet another PC storefront. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that its massive open-world RPG will officially arrive on Battle.net later in 2026.
The announcement was made during BlizzCon on September 13 as part of the “30 Years of Battle.net” panel. While Battle.net remains closely associated with Blizzard games such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and StarCraft, the platform has increasingly opened its doors to games from other publishers.
Cyberpunk 2077 will now become one of its biggest third-party additions.
Cyberpunk 2077 is officially heading to Battle.net
CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will become available through Battle.net before the end of 2026.
An exact release date has not been announced.
Anyone hoping for a surprise BlizzCon release will also have to wait a little longer. CD Projekt Red specifically ruled out a shadow drop during the event, meaning the Battle.net version is still scheduled for later this year.
For PC players, this adds another place to purchase the game alongside Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
It is unlikely to dramatically change Cyberpunk 2077’s position on PC, but it does show how much Battle.net itself is changing.
Both Cyberpunk 2077 editions are coming
Battle.net users will not be limited to a single version of the game.
CD Projekt Red plans to offer both the standard version of Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
The Ultimate Edition combines the base game with the Phantom Liberty expansion, providing the complete current Cyberpunk 2077 package in a single purchase.
Players who only purchase the standard game will still be able to buy Phantom Liberty separately through Battle.net.
That essentially brings the Battle.net release in line with the buying options already available through other major PC storefronts.
Battle.net pricing remains unknown
Neither Blizzard nor CD Projekt Red has announced how much Cyberpunk 2077 will cost on Battle.net.
There is therefore no guarantee that prices will perfectly match Steam, GOG, or Epic Games Store.
On existing storefronts, the Ultimate Edition generally provides a small saving compared with purchasing Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty separately. A similar structure would make sense for Battle.net, but this has not yet been confirmed.
Regional pricing, launch discounts, and potential Battle.net promotions also remain unknown.
With the release still scheduled for later in 2026, those details will likely be announced closer to launch.
Battle.net is becoming much more than a Blizzard launcher
The Cyberpunk 2077 announcement is particularly interesting because it continues Battle.net’s gradual transformation.
For years, Battle.net was effectively the home of Blizzard’s own games. Opening the storefront to major releases from other publishers makes it increasingly resemble a broader PC gaming platform rather than simply a launcher for Blizzard’s catalogue.
CD Projekt Red has already started moving into that ecosystem.
A partnership announced in late August brought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. The promotion also connected the two companies’ franchises by offering a Geralt cosmetic for Diablo 4.
Cyberpunk 2077 now takes that relationship another step further.
And unlike a smaller catalogue addition, Cyberpunk is one of the biggest RPG releases of the last decade.
Cyberpunk 2077 keeps finding new platforms
The Battle.net release is another chapter in what has become a remarkably long expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.
The game originally launched in December 2020 and had one of the most controversial launches in recent gaming history. Technical problems, particularly on older consoles, dominated discussion surrounding the game.
CD Projekt Red spent years rebuilding its reputation through updates, fixes, additional content, and eventually Phantom Liberty.
Cyberpunk 2077 later received native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in 2022.
Its reach continued expanding from there.
The Ultimate Edition eventually arrived on Switch 2 and Apple-silicon Macs, giving Cyberpunk 2077 access to audiences that would once have seemed unlikely for such a demanding open-world title.
The game then expanded again through Xbox Game Pass in March 2026.
Battle.net is now next.
Six years after its original release, CD Projekt Red is still finding new audiences for Night City.
More than 40 million copies sold
There is also a very good reason why Cyberpunk 2077 remains such an important game for CD Projekt Red.
The company reports that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 40 million copies.
Phantom Liberty has added another 15 million sales.
Those numbers represent an extraordinary turnaround considering how badly the original launch damaged the game’s reputation.
Cyberpunk 2077 went from being one of the industry’s biggest cautionary tales to becoming a long-term commercial success that CD Projekt Red continues to support through new platforms and partnerships.
The upcoming Battle.net release probably will not suddenly add tens of millions of players, especially considering how widely available the game already is.
However, it gives CD Projekt Red another storefront and potentially puts Cyberpunk directly in front of players who primarily use Battle.net for Blizzard titles.
Blizzard and CD Projekt Red are getting surprisingly close
Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Battle.net also does not appear to be an isolated agreement.
Blizzard and CD Projekt Red are increasingly crossing their franchises.
Alongside the Battle.net announcement, Blizzard confirmed additional collaboration content involving both Cyberpunk and The Witcher.
Overwatch is set to receive crossover content based on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, while Diablo 4 is getting additional Witcher-themed cosmetics.
Those crossover releases are currently planned for 2027.
It suggests that the relationship between Blizzard and CD Projekt Red could extend well beyond simply selling games through Battle.net.
For fans of either publisher, that could result in some interesting collaborations over the coming years.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also returning
The Cyberpunk universe itself is far from finished.
The next major official release connected to the franchise is the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 20.
The original anime helped introduce an enormous new audience to the Cyberpunk universe and contributed to a major resurgence in interest surrounding Cyberpunk 2077.
Its return gives CD Projekt Red another opportunity to put the franchise back into the spotlight while development continues on the eventual Cyberpunk 2077 successor.
Between Edgerunners, new crossover content, additional storefront releases, and the future of the game series itself, Cyberpunk has become far larger than the troubled RPG that launched back in 2020.
Battle.net continues opening its doors
For Cyberpunk 2077 owners who already have the game on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, or another platform, there is probably little reason to purchase it again.
The bigger story may instead be Battle.net.
Adding a game as large as Cyberpunk 2077 reinforces the idea that Blizzard wants its launcher and storefront to host a broader catalogue.
Steam remains overwhelmingly dominant in the PC gaming market, while Epic Games Store and GOG already compete for players’ attention. Battle.net has historically occupied a different position because its audience primarily visited the platform for Blizzard and Activision games.
Third-party releases could slowly change that.
Cyberpunk 2077 certainly gives Battle.net another major name to put on the storefront.
Night City has one more destination
Cyberpunk 2077 has had one of the strangest journeys in modern gaming.
It launched under enormous expectations, suffered through a disastrous opening period, gradually recovered through years of updates, delivered a widely praised expansion, and eventually became one of CD Projekt Red’s biggest commercial successes.
Now, nearly six years after release, Night City is preparing to open its doors to another group of PC players.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition are coming to Battle.net later in 2026.
There is no exact date and no confirmed pricing yet.
But one thing is clear: CD Projekt Red is not finished expanding Cyberpunk 2077’s reach just yet.
