Rock Bottom Review – A Relaxing Mining Adventure That Keeps You Digging

Indie games often prove that you do not need flashy graphics or massive budgets to create something addictive. Rock Bottom is a perfect example. Developed by Logan Games, this incremental mining adventure combines exploration, permanent progression, and satisfying resource gathering into a gameplay loop that is difficult to put down.

Whether you enjoy idle games, mining simulators, or simply watching your upgrades snowball into faster progression, Rock Bottom delivers an experience that is easy to recommend.

Dig Deeper and Grow Stronger

The core gameplay revolves around one simple objective: keep digging.

Players descend deeper underground while collecting ores, gems, and valuable resources. Those materials can be refined into bars and used to unlock permanent upgrades that make future mining runs more efficient.

The progression feels rewarding from the very beginning. Every upgrade has a noticeable impact, making each return underground feel more productive than the last. Instead of forcing players through long periods of grinding, Rock Bottom constantly rewards your efforts with new abilities, better equipment, and faster resource collection.

It creates that familiar “just one more upgrade” feeling that keeps you playing far longer than expected.

Plenty to Discover

Rock Bottom features multiple underground biomes, each introducing different resources and visual themes. As you continue digging, the game gradually reveals new mechanics that keep exploration fresh.

Hidden treasures, rare ores, and stronger upgrades ensure there is always another goal waiting below the surface.

The pacing is well-balanced. New unlocks arrive frequently enough to keep the experience engaging without overwhelming players with too many mechanics at once.

Relaxing Yet Addictive

One of Rock Bottom’s biggest strengths is how relaxing it feels.

There are no strict timers, no punishing difficulty spikes, and no pressure to rush. You can simply mine, collect resources, improve your equipment, and enjoy steady progression at your own pace.

At the same time, the permanent upgrade system creates a highly addictive gameplay loop. Every improvement encourages you to venture deeper, gather more resources, and unlock the next tier of progression.

Fans of incremental games will likely lose track of time before they even realize it.

Charming Pixel Presentation

The pixel art fits the game perfectly.

The underground environments are colourful, easy to read, and filled with enough variety to make each biome feel unique. Animations remain smooth, while the simple visual style keeps the focus on gameplay rather than unnecessary visual effects.

The soundtrack also complements the relaxed atmosphere without becoming repetitive during longer sessions.

A Few Minor Issues Remain

The only real downside we encountered was that a handful of minor issues from the demo version are still present in the full release.

None of these problems significantly affected our enjoyment, and the developer has already shown a willingness to improve the game through updates. Even so, it would have been nice to see those lingering issues fully addressed before launch.

Fortunately, they remain small inconveniences rather than game-breaking problems.

Final Verdict

Rock Bottom is an excellent example of how simple gameplay can become incredibly addictive when executed well. Its satisfying progression, enjoyable exploration, and constant stream of upgrades create a relaxing mining adventure that is easy to recommend.

While a few minor issues remain from the demo, they do little to overshadow an otherwise polished and enjoyable experience. If you enjoy incremental games, mining adventures, or relaxing progression-focused titles, Rock Bottom is well worth digging into.
