GameStop Brings Back Buy 2, Get 1 Free Deal for Pro Members During Fourth of July

GameStop has officially brought back one of its most popular promotions, giving customers another chance to pick up extra games for free. However, this year’s Buy 2, Get 1 Free event comes with an important catch, as the offer is only available to GameStop Pro members.

The promotion arrives during the Fourth of July shopping period and comes at a time when both GameStop and the wider gaming industry continue to undergo significant changes.

GameStop Pro Members Get Exclusive Access

The Buy 2, Get 1 Free promotion is available at participating GameStop stores across the United States. Customers who subscribe to GameStop Pro can purchase two eligible pre-owned games and receive a third title at no additional cost.

A GameStop Pro membership costs $25 per year, meaning shoppers who are not already subscribed will need to join before taking advantage of the offer.

Eligible purchases can be delivered through ship-to-home or collected via in-store pickup, depending on local stock availability. As with previous promotions, GameStop notes that the offer is available while supplies last.

Plenty of Games Included

GameStop has highlighted several titles that qualify for the promotion, including:

  • Star Fox – $54.99
  • Monster Hunter Wilds – $29.99
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 – $44.99

The exact selection may vary between stores depending on available pre-owned inventory.

Pro Membership Still Offers Several Benefits

Although GameStop recently retired its Pro Points rewards system, the subscription still includes several perks for regular customers.

Current benefits include:

  • Buy 2, Get 1 Free eligibility during participating promotions
  • 10% bonus trade-in credit
  • Free shipping on eligible orders worth $54 or more

For players who frequently buy or trade physical games, those benefits may still offset the annual membership fee.

GameStop Addresses a Long-Standing Customer Complaint

Alongside its promotional efforts, GameStop has also made a small but welcome retail improvement.

Beginning in June 2026, the retailer introduced upgraded price stickers that are designed to peel away more easily. Customers have complained for years that older stickers often left behind sticky residue or were difficult to remove without damaging game cases.

While minor compared to larger business changes, it is one of the more practical improvements for collectors who prefer keeping physical copies in good condition.

GameStop Faces an Uncertain Future

The promotion also arrives during an eventful period for GameStop itself.

CEO Ryan Cohen recently made headlines after reportedly pursuing a $55.5 billion bid to acquire eBay. The proposal was reportedly rejected as neither credible nor attractive, while reports also claimed Cohen forfeited a performance-based bonus worth approximately $35 billion as he focused on the effort.

Although discussions have stalled, speculation continues over whether a more aggressive acquisition attempt could still emerge.

The Physical Games Market Continues to Change

GameStop’s latest promotion also highlights the uncertain future of physical game retail.

Sony has confirmed it plans to stop manufacturing new PlayStation game discs after January 2028, although games released before that deadline will continue receiving physical editions. Meanwhile, publishers have already started experimenting with boxed releases that contain digital download vouchers instead of actual game discs, including Grand Theft Auto 6.

As more publishers embrace digital distribution, retailers like GameStop may increasingly rely on promotions such as Buy 2, Get 1 Free to encourage customers to continue purchasing physical games while they remain widely available.
