Nintendo Switch owners have been caught by surprise after Cruis’n Blast was suddenly removed from the Nintendo eShop without any prior announcement. Unlike most digital delistings, Nintendo did not give players advance notice, leaving many fans wondering why one of the platform’s exclusive arcade racers has disappeared.
At the time of writing, neither Nintendo nor developer Raw Thrills has explained why the game was removed from sale.
Cruis’n Blast Removed From Nintendo eShop
Digital games occasionally disappear from online storefronts, but publishers usually announce a removal date weeks or even months in advance. That gives players enough time to purchase a title before it becomes unavailable.
That did not happen with Cruis’n Blast.
The game vanished from the Nintendo eShop without warning, meaning anyone who planned to buy it no longer has that option. Existing owners should still be able to download the game from their account, but new purchases are currently impossible.
The unexpected move has sparked confusion across the Nintendo community, especially because no official statement has accompanied the delisting.
Why Was Cruis’n Blast Delisted?
Right now, the reason remains unknown.
One theory points toward the game’s collection of licensed vehicles. Racing games have often faced licensing issues when agreements expire, forcing publishers to remove them from digital stores.
However, there is currently no confirmation that licensing caused Cruis’n Blast’s removal. Until Nintendo or Raw Thrills comments, any explanation remains speculation.
The Delisting Is Unusual for a Nintendo Franchise
Cruis’n Blast launched on Nintendo Switch in 2021 as the latest entry in Nintendo’s long-running Cruis’n series, which previously appeared on the Nintendo 64 and Wii. Although Raw Thrills developed and published the Switch version, the franchise itself belongs to Nintendo.
That makes the sudden removal stand out even more.
Many Nintendo Switch exclusives have remained available digitally throughout the console’s lifespan and continue to work on Nintendo Switch 2, with some titles even benefiting from improved performance or visual enhancements. While digital removals do happen, they rarely arrive without any notice.
Players Are Still Waiting for Answers
The lack of communication has left several important questions unanswered.
Nintendo has not clarified whether the game could return to the eShop in the future, whether the removal is temporary, or what caused the decision in the first place. There has also been no information regarding long-term digital preservation or whether the title could receive a future re-release.
For now, Cruis’n Blast remains unavailable for purchase on the Nintendo eShop, and fans can only wait for Nintendo or Raw Thrills to explain what happened.
