Call of Duty Black Ops 1 and 2 PS Ports Could Cost Players $80

Call of Duty fans looking forward to revisiting two of the franchise’s most beloved entries on PlayStation may need to prepare their wallets. Recent pricing changes and storefront updates have led many players to believe that the upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 could carry a combined price tag of around $80.

While Activision has yet to officially confirm pricing, the latest developments have already sparked discussions throughout the community.

Store Updates Hint at Pricing

Ahead of their expected release in July, several changes have appeared across existing storefronts. Both Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have recently seen their standalone prices adjusted to $40 each. DLC packs have also received price reductions, with map packs dropping from $15 to $10 and the Black Ops 2 Season Pass falling from $50 to $30.

These adjustments have fueled speculation that the PlayStation versions will launch at the same $40 price point per game. If accurate, players wanting both titles would need to spend approximately $80 before considering any additional downloadable content.

At the moment, Activision has not announced any discounted bundle containing both games.

These Releases Are Ports, Not Remasters

Despite excitement surrounding the return of these classic titles, players should keep their expectations in check. Activision and Treyarch have clarified that these are ports of the original games rather than remastered editions.

That means fans can expect the original campaigns, multiplayer modes, and Zombies experiences, but without major graphical overhauls or significant gameplay changes.

GamingHQ previously reported that these releases were remasters. However, subsequent information confirmed that this was incorrect, and we apologize for the misunderstanding. Activision has since made it clear that the upcoming PlayStation versions are straightforward ports intended to preserve the original experience.

Fans Are Divided Over the Price

The possibility of paying $40 per title has generated mixed reactions among players.

Some believe the price is reasonable, arguing that Black Ops and Black Ops 2 remain among the most iconic entries in the series and are finally becoming easily accessible on modern PlayStation hardware.

Others feel that charging full premium prices for decade-old games without remastered visuals or new content is difficult to justify. Several fans have expressed hopes that Activision will eventually offer a collection or bundle to make the purchase more attractive.

Questions also remain regarding how DLC content will be handled and whether additional packages or bundles will be available after launch.

Release Expected in July

Activision announced earlier this month that both Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 are heading to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in July. Development duties are being handled by Iron Galaxy, while the original content—including campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies—will be preserved.

For now, the rumored $80 combined price remains unconfirmed. Players will likely have to wait for Activision’s official announcement to learn exactly how much these long-awaited ports will cost.
