Call of Duty: Vanguard Joins Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have another Call of Duty title to dive into, as Call of Duty: Vanguard officially joined the service on June 17. The addition continues Microsoft’s ongoing effort to bring more Activision Blizzard titles to Game Pass following the company’s acquisition in late 2023.

Available to Game Pass Ultimate and Premium members, Vanguard can be played across Xbox consoles, PC, and cloud streaming.

Another Call of Duty Title Arrives on Game Pass

Originally released in 2021 and developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: Vanguard takes players back to World War II. The campaign follows an international special-forces team tasked with stopping a secret Nazi operation during the final stages of the war.

The game offers three major modes:

  • A cinematic single-player campaign.
  • Traditional multiplayer featuring a wide range of maps and modes.
  • Zombies mode, developed in collaboration with Treyarch.

With Vanguard joining the service, Xbox Game Pass now features seven Call of Duty entries, giving subscribers an increasingly larger selection from one of gaming’s biggest franchises.

Mixed Reception, But Plenty of Content

At launch, Call of Duty: Vanguard received mixed reviews from critics and players. Many praised its visuals, gunplay, and action-packed campaign moments, while others criticized its progression systems and lack of innovation compared to previous entries.

Despite those criticisms, the game remains appealing for players looking for a World War II setting and a sizeable multiplayer experience. The inclusion of Zombies mode also provides another option for cooperative players already enjoying other undead-focused entries in the series.

More Games Arriving in June

Vanguard is only one of several titles heading to Xbox Game Pass this month. Recent and upcoming additions include:

June 2026 Releases

  • Junkster – June 16 (day one)
  • EA Sports FC 26 – June 18 through EA Play
  • Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition – June 23 (day one)
  • Abyssus – June 25
  • RV There Yet? – June 30

Bigger Releases Are Coming

Xbox Game Pass subscribers also have several major releases to look forward to later this summer. Palworld 1.0 and Halo: Campaign Evolved are both expected to launch day one on the service in late July.

However, recent changes to Game Pass pricing mean that future Call of Duty releases are no longer expected to arrive on the service on day one, making additions such as Vanguard especially noteworthy for subscribers hoping to expand their library.

For now, fans looking to revisit World War II or experience Vanguard for the first time can jump in immediately through Xbox Game Pass.
