Epic Games is expanding its mobile giveaway program by offering Little Nightmares (Mobile) for free on the Epic Games Store until March 12 at 17:00 CET. The promotion is part of Epic’s ongoing weekly free games initiative, which now also includes mobile titles following the launch of its mobile storefront in early 2025.
Players who claim the game before the deadline will be able to keep it permanently in their Epic library.
A Horror Classic Comes to Mobile
Originally developed by Tarsier Studios, Little Nightmares first launched in April 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game quickly gained recognition for its unsettling atmosphere and distinctive visual style.
Over time, the title expanded to additional platforms:
- Nintendo Switch release in May 2018
- Mobile version for Android and iOS in December 2023
The mobile edition recreates the full experience while introducing touch-optimized controls and additional accessibility options designed specifically for smartphones and tablets.
Critical Reception and Player Feedback
Since its original release, Little Nightmares has been widely praised for its art direction, environmental storytelling, and haunting sound design.
Critics highlighted the game’s unique approach to horror, focusing on tension and atmosphere rather than traditional jump scares. The title currently holds a 79 average score with a 71% recommendation rate among critics.
However, some players noted issues with inconsistent checkpoint placement and occasionally awkward controls in earlier versions. The mobile edition attempts to address these concerns with customizable control layouts.
March’s Current Epic Freebie Lineup
The Little Nightmares mobile giveaway is part of Epic’s latest free game rotation.
The current lineup includes:
- Turnip Boy Robs a Bank (PC)
- Idle Champions — Raistlin’s Renown Pack (PC)
- Little Nightmares (Mobile)
Epic states the total value of the bundle exceeds $120, although the majority of that figure comes from the premium Raistlin pack.
Little Nightmares itself typically sells for $8.99 on mobile, making this the first time the mobile version has been offered free through Epic’s storefront.
What’s Coming Next
Epic has already revealed the next set of free titles scheduled to rotate in on March 12. Two games expected to replace the current lineup are:
- Isonzo
- Cozy Grove
Cozy Grove also has a mobile version, making it a likely candidate for another mobile giveaway.
Meanwhile, fans of the Little Nightmares universe should note that the spin-off Very Little Nightmares, released in 2019 for mobile platforms, is not part of the Epic promotion.
