Black Ops 6 June Update Fixes Gunsmith, Zombies, and UI Issues Following Rough Season 4 Launch

Treyarch has just released a brand-new update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, targeting several issues across Gunsmith, Zombies, the user interface, and more. The June 6 patch arrives shortly after the launch of Season 4 on May 29, which introduced Grief mode and new content—but also brought a wave of bugs and frustrations for players.

Season 4’s Turbulent Start

The return of Grief mode—a fan-favorite from Black Ops 2—was meant to be a major highlight. Now reworked as a PvPvE experience, Grief pits two teams of four against each other and the undead in high-stakes matches. While the mode itself shows promise, the Season 4 update was plagued by technical issues ranging from UI problems to weapon blueprint glitches. Just one week later, Treyarch has responded with a patch addressing many of these pain points.

Key Fixes and Adjustments in the June Update

The latest patch includes critical fixes in several areas:

Gunsmith Updates

  • The “Rapid Fire” Fire Mod’s damage has been aligned with the AK-74 assault rifle for proper balancing.
  • FFAR 1 blueprints now feature the correct number of attachments.
  • Underbarrel launchers can now be used properly with the “Combo Bash” FFAR 1 blueprint.

UI Fixes

  • Operator previews for Hudson, Mace, and R0-Z3 now display correctly on the selection screen.
  • An exploit allowing players to equip locked camo skins has been patched.
  • Mastercraft icons now show correctly for the LC10 “Storm Rage” blueprint.
  • In multiplayer, players’ levels now appear properly when queuing into matches, replacing the placeholder icons previously seen.

Zombies Mode Adjustments (Grief)

  • Flinch from enemy melee attacks has been significantly reduced.
  • Stun and slow effects from repeated melee hits no longer stack until the previous one wears off.
  • Aether Shroud and Healing Aura Field Upgrades now require more kills to charge:
    • Healing Aura: 240 kills
    • Aether Shroud: 180 kills
  • Weapon Roulette now functions correctly and no longer causes players to lose weapon functionality.
  • Unintended access to Wonder Weapons in Grief matches has been resolved.
  • Map clutter has been reduced by removing excess icons outside the Grief Arena.

More Updates on the Horizon

Treyarch confirmed that more balance changes are on the way, especially for Grief mode, as the studio aims to make the competitive mechanics more engaging and meaningful. In addition, the team recently revealed upcoming featured playlists for Black Ops 6, continuing their effort to keep the multiplayer experience fresh and community-focused.

With Season 4 off to a rocky but active start, it’s clear that Treyarch is committed to course-correcting quickly. For players, these updates signal a step in the right direction toward stability and gameplay balance.
